Job description

CorVel is seeking a Senior General Liability Claims Specialist. The Senior General Liability Claims Specialist manages within company best practices Commercial General Liability PD and BI Claims, including litigated matters. This role is primarily Premises General Liability, but may include some Auto exposures as well. Additionally, the Specialist will work within delegated authority to best possible outcomes for CorVel and our clients. This is a remote position.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives new claims, confirms coverage and meets 24 hour contact requirements.
  • Renders a Liability determination on each claim in accordance with statutory requirements and Service Handling Instructions.
  • Investigates simple to complex General Liability BI and PD, including litigated matters. May include Auto Liability claims as well.
  • Establishes timely reserves and authorizes payments within authority limits.
  • Communicates claim status with the client, excess carriers, and defense counsel (as applicable).
  • Formulates a defense strategy in partnership with defense counsel.
  • Adheres to client and carrier guidelines and participates in claims review as needed.
  • Prepares for and participates in file reviews. Requires high level of professionality and thorough knowledge of claims being reviewed.
  • Assists other claims professionals with claims as necessary.
  • Additional projects and duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
  • High level of keyboarding skill is essential.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office, including Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet or exceed performance competencies.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Desire to embrace and thrive on change.
  • Strong team work mentality.
  • Requires regular and consistent attendance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Home State Adjuster’s License is required. Multi-state licensure is preferred.
  • TPA Experience is highly preferred.
  • PREMISES Liability is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years Commercial General Liability experience including litigation.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

PAY RANGE:

CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.

Pay Range: $58,282 – $93,870
