Job description

We are looking for an experienced and skilledSenior Financial Business Analyst to work with the US Director of Finance on all reporting and analysis topics, with a focus on Marketing.

Babbel is headquartered in Berlin and has an office in New York City, where this position is based. We have a flexible and hybrid work environment with 2 days/week required in our NYC office.

About the Role:

This role gives you the opportunity to flex your analysis and reporting muscles to help our business function more efficiently and profitably. The day-to-day responsibilities will focus on working with both the US-based and Berlin-based marketing teams to ensure that they have the financial information and analysis they need to make critical business decisions. Additionally, you will support the greater Finance department in understanding trends in our marketing space and assist the accounting department with cost reporting. You will be instrumental in the month-end reporting package that is distributed internally to the Babbel Leadership Team and externally to Babbel's shareholders. This role reports to the US Director of Finance.

You will:

  • Understanding Marketing key business drivers.
  • Main point-of-contact for all Marketing costs and KPIs
  • Assisting with budgeting and monthly close and reporting processes.
  • Assisting marketing teams with financial guidance.
  • Developing financial projections and building financial models.
  • Performing research and extensive ad-hoc analysis as required.
  • Compare anticipated and actual results and identify areas of improvement
  • Utilize data analysis to develop strategies for improving operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with internal teams, business stakeholders, and external partners
  • Monitor and report on the progress of business initiatives
  • Communicating ideas and viewpoints to senior management

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and modeling.
  • Ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience.
  • Experience working with an international team, not required but would be a plus.
  • Working knowledge of financial and marketing strategies.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite is a must. Knowledge of SQL and R is a plus.
  • Ability to present financial data using detailed reports and charts.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP), Workday would be a plus.
  • Demonstrable strategic thinking skills and entrepreneur attitude. The ability to run with the role and grow within this organization.
  • Familiarity with IFRS is a plus

Salary Information:

  • In New York City, the reasonable annualized full-time base salary for this role is $90,000 - $110,000; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level.
