Senior Factory Applications Engineer - PoDL
Description:
This position is for a senior application engineer who is responsible ADI's emerging Power over Data Line (PoDL) aka Single-pair Power over Ethernet (SPoE) products. SPoE is positioned to redefine power and data networks in the automotive and building/factory automation end markets. The emergence of Ethernet and PoE solutions in single-pair networks will revolutionize automotive and building networks and systems.
Enabling customer success is the primary responsibility for this position. In addition, a candidate for this role will also be able to drive the development of application circuit solutions for SPoE applications. Finally, the candidate should be able to contribute to detailed product definition, create product datasheets, and work closely with the development team to ensure that the released product meets customer requirements.
Qualifications:
- Proven ability to design isolated switching power supplies and PCBs
- Strong hands-on knowledge of RF test equipment (network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, power meter, vector signal analyzer, signal generator), circuitry, and layout
- Experience with creation and use of 4-port S-parameters
- Experience with EMI measurements and BCI testing
- Ability to specify magnetic components
- Software experience programming microcontrollers and creating GUIs
- Experience or familiarity with PoE and Hot Swap is a plus
- 5+ years of experience
- BS required; MS preferred
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Duties:
- Gain deep technical expertise in SPoE and power supplies
- Direct support for customers and FAEs/Sales
- Technical writing: datasheets, application notes, marketing and sales collateral, articles, presentations, patents, and FAQs
- Provide inputs for new product definition and advocate for customer
- Customer board validation and troubleshooting
- Demo board development and validation
- Ability to understand, create, and edit schematics using Orcad or similar
- Strong debug skills of analog and digital circuits at the PCB level
- Familiarity with PCB design software, such as PADS or Allegro
- Some travel
