Senior Enterprise Solution Architect

We are currently in the process of extending our IT Infrastructure capabilities to the public cloud. If you are an agile learner, have hands-on experience architecting and implementing secure, reliable & resilient hybrid-cloud solutions and able to function as part of a highly technical, cross functional team, we would like to hear from you. This work will be managed from our South Dakota teams location but will be open for remote workers/work locations throughout the United States.
KBR is an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner that is looking for an experienced and motivated Cloud support engineer that enjoys solving problems, working with customers, and has a strong technical background. As a Senior Enterprise Solution Architect, you will be part of a team responsible for delivering new AWS projects for our customers. The ideal candidate should be a detail-oriented self-starter with independent problem-solving skills, who exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills.
KBR is seeking candidates with a broad background in both enterprise architecture, application development, and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure spanning both on premise and cloud-based solutions. The Solutions Architect is a technical leadership position that will work with the Federal Government customers and other stakeholder partners to develop solutions in response to customer requirements. Projects will range from long-term strategic planning, large science mission support to multiple, concurrent quick turnaround efforts. The ideal candidate will combine the technical skills and leadership described below with experience supporting both business growth and solution development teams across KBR.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with customers, and mission-level stakeholders and partners to understand and analyze business and technical requirements for systems; design solutions to integrate and deliver these capabilities into mission/enterprise systems
  • Responsible for leading the development and maintenance of a multi-year Enterprise Architecture strategic roadmap for the overall enterprise cloud capabilities
  • Responsible for leading teams to define and control technical and programmatic aspects of project integration for current and future planned projects
  • Provide systems engineering expertise and leadership to a complex, dynamic, systems teams who develop, integrate, critical mission applications
  • Provide mentoring for lower-level technical staff on systems engineering and programmatic activities; assist technical managers in the development of the next generation of engineers and developers
  • Provides expert level oversight of the development and conduct of mission operations for the customer and stakeholders
  • Provide oversight of project based technical analyses, document reviews, engineering change reviews, technical meetings, data reviews, readiness reviews and operations in multiple disciplines
  • Develop technical briefings, proposals, and other program description documentation and delivering presentations to senior level management of customer and stakeholders
  • Attend and report on government and industry technical meetings addressing project level requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, mentoring, dependability, and interpersonal skills w/ability to coordinate with large teams of senior level engineers of multiple disciplines in a team of teams environment
  • Excellent Enterprise Architecture planning and organization skills at a strategic or mission level are required with ability to handle complex multitask environment
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise architecture (EA) modeling/framework and system engineering tools and processes
  • Experience with big data technologies, SOA, web services, Agile development, virtualization, storage, and cloud computing
  • Knowledge of current and emerging industry-based standards, open-source capabilities, service-based technologies, open data policies, and technology evolution paths
  • IT strategy including hardware/software knowledge of the full software stack and systems lifecycle and relevant management processes
  • Knowledge of IT operations, processes, security, and relevant government standards and processes
  • Ability to graphically document complex technical architectures, systems, and concepts
  • Ability to work with technical staff and lead technical teams to develop on-prem, cloud based, or hybrid solutions
  • Production of accurate high-level plans and estimates, and ability to effectively document and communicate these to project management and technical development staff
  • Ability to work on multiple, concurrent efforts and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including effective questioning, listening, and presentation skills
  • Effective at performing technical presentations to both technical and business/executive audiences
  • Must have demonstrated capability to interface effectively with government and contractor personnel at technical and management levels

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor of Science degree (BA/BS required, Master's degree preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or other Data Information Systems field of study

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum Professional Experience of 10+ years and should include:
    • 10 years of demonstrated experience developing system and software solutions
    • 5 years of experience at a senior-Architect level directly supporting system concept development, technology selection, and initiating and leading development teams
    • Minimum of 10 years related experience or equivalent education in lieu of experience

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • 3 years of continuous residency in the United States for issuance of a Government Security credential
  • Some occasional travel required (1-4 times per year)
  • The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain a badge for government facility access and user accounts

Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.
