Job description

Have you ever wanted to help support the restoration of the second longest river system in the state? Look no further, th e Department of Water Resource's South Central Region Office (SCRO) is currently seeking a Senior Engineer, Water Resources Specialist with a passion for river restoration and construction project management. In this position you will collaborate with other civil engineers, geomorphologists, permitting specialists, and community and Tribal partners to develop restoration projects that benefit species and the communities in the San Joaquin Valley. You will serve as a mentor to junior engineers and other technical staff while managing and leading restoration projects from study, to design, all the way through to construction!
In this dynamic role you will represent SCRO and apply knowledge of conventional and emerging habitat restoration engineering principles and practices.

Special Requirements
The position requires possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers . You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License with a good driving record, as travel throughout the State of California is required.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Our ideal candidate will have broad technical knowledge to manage, evaluate, design, and implement water resources projects, with an emphasis on riverine restoration, hydraulic and sediment transport modeling, surveying, design, and flood management. Experience with rivers, fish and habitat, and training in field data collection and project management is also preferred. Candidate should possess an ability to supervise staff and work effectively with others to promote a positive teamwork environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Suite is a plus.
