The Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities and their families through awareness, education, information, programs, services, and the exchange of ideas and experiences.

 

DSAW provides programs and services throughout the lifespan (Parent’s First Call for new and expectant parents, children’s services, adult services, vocational services, and aging services), as well as educational opportunities and events.

 

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Employment Programs Coordinator in Western Wisconsin. The Senior Employment Program Coordinator will work to create partnerships with community businesses in order to roll out our industry specific, site-based employment work hubs to individuals and students in High School/Transition Programs in Western Wisconsin. Additionally, the Senior Employment Programs Coordinator will work to create partnerships with area school districts to roll out our pre-ETS programming to middle school, high school and transition program students in Western Wisconsin. They will also assist future Site Coordinators in providing local oversight and coordination of work hubs and school district sites in Western Wisconsin.

 

The Senior Employment Programs Coordinator will supervise future Site Coordinators throughout Western Wisconsin, each of whom will oversee and run particular work hub sites and/or school districts. The Senior Employment Programs Coordinator will have an important role in staff onboarding, staff training and management, and the fidelity of employment programs and direct service execution. The Senior Employment Programs Coordinator will spend about 75% of their time creating and expanding site-based employment programming, creating and expanding middle school and high school partnerships for our pre- ETS classes throughout Western Wisconsin as well as providing employer education. The Senior Employment Programs Coordinator will also work with future Site Coordinators on relationship management, recruitment of new participants, staffing plans, lesson planning, task lists, reporting and billing for all of our Western Wisconsin sites.

 

The Senior Employment Programs Coordinator could also run their own work hub site or provide instructional services to school districts depending on capacity. This includes completing paperwork, reports, ongoing recruitment for work hub site/s and lesson plan preparation and dissemination for their assigned school district.

 

The Senior Employment Programs Coordinator will work closely with the Employment Services Manager, Western Wisconsin collaboratively to scale services within Western Wisconsin. The Senior Employment Programs Coordinator should be very comfortable with sales and business development. Our ideal candidate is both a big-picture strategic thinker and someone who is able to assist Site Coordinators with day-to-day details and problems.

 

We are looking for someone who has experience working with individuals with disabilities. This person should have excellent organization and prioritization skills in order to assist with site management. The Senior Employment Programs Coordinator must be a skilled communicator, empathetic listener, and excellent problem-solver, with the ability to help staff support participants and effectively deliver quality curriculum and content. Staff management experience is required.  Overall, the candidate must be a fast learner who is passionate about helping individuals with disabilities achieve meaningful lives.

 

In order to complete this job well, the Senior Employment Programs Coordinator must be very comfortable with technology, and have the ability to quickly learn new systems, such as a new Case Management System. The coordinator should have a thorough understanding of MS Office/G Suite products. Experience with a participant management system and a time tracking/scheduling system is a plus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Regional Growth
    • Work with the Employment Services Manager, SE WI on big-picture strategy for regional growth
    • Help grow services through activities such as personal phone calls, in-person presentations, attending relevant DSAW and community events, etc
    • Develop relationships with prospective partners across the region
    • Work with the Employment Services Manager, SE WI and Director of Employment Services to meet quarterly and annual goals for the region
  • Site/Program Management
    • Oversee contract renewal for sites
    • Work with Site Coordinators to strengthen, maintain and grow current partnerships
    • Work with Site Coordinators to ensure utilization of curriculum for work hub site and pre-ETS programs from statewide lesson plan library
    • Ensure best practices and standard operating procedures are communicated and followed
    • Oversee monthly reporting and billing for all sites
    • Ensure the staff are equipped with DSAW curriculum and materials needed for classes and programs
    • Oversee the quality of work hub sites and classes
    • Ensure that all site-based programs follow DSAW safety plans and guidelines
    • Support Site Coordinators by problem solving and completing internal and external communications
    • Assist Site Coordinators with site relationship management
  • Staff Management
    • Directly supervise Site Coordinators and provide feedback when needed as well as completing annual performance reviews
    • Supervise ongoing service delivery through regular site check-ins
    • Host regular staff meetings with Site Coordinators to collaborate, share and ensure implementation of updated curriculum and best practices
    • Manage staff scheduling
    • Review and analyze time sheets
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 4+ years working with families and participants with diverse disabilities
  • Experience working in employment services programming
  • Experience working with DVR, IRIS and Family Care
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Program development experience required
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle
  • Applicants must pass a caregiver background check that meets State of Wisconsin requirements

Compensation

Given that the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin is a non-profit organization that is not engaged in the production of goods or services, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Wisconsin overtime law does not apply to DSAW employees. Nonetheless, this is a salaried position budgeted at $40K - $50K annually.
