We are currently seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to help with the design, documentation, development, debug and test of real time Embedded Software for Surveillance Avionics Products, such as aircraft collision avoidance systems (ACAS), Transponders, and ADS-B In/Out Systems. This is a Software Engineering position with a focus on the full lifecycle development, integration, and test of a new avionics system.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Software Engineering requirements capture and analysis with emphasis on verifiability and test approach.
  • Design, code, integrate, and test Embedded Software of moderate complexity.
  • Generate and maintain software documentation for software verification lifecycle artifacts.
  • Expand knowledge with a primary emphasis on taking technical ownership of multiple components within a system.
  • Understands major Collins Aerospace processes related to software development and applies them to current project.
  • Participate in cross-functional team efforts in definition, integration, verification, and validation of products and sub-systems of moderate complexity.
  • Capable of producing engineering estimates for individual tasks. May contribute to Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and Bid proposals.
  • Able to identify the root cause of moderate to complex software issues and some systems issues using appropriate debug and analysis tools.
  • Able to clearly summarize encountered technical software issues to project leadership in a timely fashion.
  • Able to work autonomously with limited oversight from manager.
  • Able to mentor and review the work of lower level professionals.
  • Individual job duties may vary.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Experience in full lifecycle software development process from requirements through verification and validation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Avionics/Aerospace field, specifically in Embedded Software development.
  • Experience with application lifecycle management tools/platforms such as Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Git or similar tools (DEVOPS experience).
  • Experience with C/C++, Python or similar languages.
  • Experience in systems engineering functions including large scale system integration, large Scale system test and verification.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to quickly come up to speed on technical efforts currently underway.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with C/C++ and JavaScript languages.
  • Experience in DO-178B/C processes (or similar safety-critical software development guidelines) is preferred.
  • Experience working with teams across multi-geographical locations and multi-disciple is preferred.
  • Experience in Agile, Scrum, Kanban, project management methodologies

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
