Location: Austin, TX

Shift: The 9/80 schedule is a two-week work schedule that compresses the same number
of work hours (80hrs) into nine days rather than ten. With the 9/80 work
schedule, employees gain an extra day off work every two weeks.

Salary: 110-150

A growing and successful company that develops and manufactures specialty components for use on unmanned and optionally piloted aircraft, is looking to add a Senior Electronics Engineer to their growing team of conditioning 485 422 Professionals near Austin, TX.

Essential Functions
• Perform detailed electrical design and development of embedded control systems in support of the following product lines:
o Actuation Systems;
o Turbo Generators;
o Power Generation, Conversion, and Distribution;
o Micro-thrust Turbines.
o Assess customer system level requirements;
o Develop derived requirements;
o Produce requirements compliance matrix;
o Generate engineering models of proposed designs with substantiating analysis balancing rigor and speed;
o Contribute to estimating recurring and non-recurring costs;
o Contribute to the development of project schedules.
• Develop detailed system performance models using MATLAB/SIMULINK (or equivalent);
• Allocate system requirements to components and subsystems;
• Design and develop electronic hardware cradle to grave, including component selection, schematic capture, simulation, and PCB/A layout:
o Motor control (BLDC, FOC) using DSP/FPGA technology;
o Power electronics for motor control, active rectification, DC-DC conversion, and distribution;
o Integration of various sensors used in closed loop control systems (resolver, VDT, pressure, current, HED).
• Assist in designing and developing firmware and software to support the systems/technologies mentioned above;
• Perform validation and verification of product requirements;
• Prepare documentation in support of customer and internal deliverables (reports, presentations).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university, required, Master’s Degree in Engineering preferred;
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing and developing: (experience with 1-2 areas are required)
o Motor controls and electromechanical control systems;
o Power conditioning and distribution systems (20+kW);
o Systems with common aerospace communication interfaces (RS-485/RS-422, CAN, etc.);
o Real-time systems.
• Extensive knowledge of digital/mixed signal PCB design; required
• Extensive knowledge of embedded electronics design practices required.
• Prior experience working in an aerospace quality control (AS9100) and manufacturing environment, preferred;
• Knowledge of common CAE tools (Solidworks, Altium Designer) preferred
• Must be a US Citizen.
• 10-15% domestic travel required to support customer / supplier visits
