Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) of the University of Rochester is a unique national resource for research and education in science and technology focusing on using lasers to initiate fusion and high energy density physics.
The LLE Electronics and Controls Engineering group is seeking an experienced electronic Design Engineer to design, plan, execute, and finalize medium to large scale projects. This includes taking requirements and executing projects from conceptual design to final integration. Tasks will include acquiring resources, coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants, creating design solutions, project reviews and presentations in order to deliver solutions that are on time and on budget.
The successful candidate should have an MSEE and 5 years of experience or BSEE and 10 years of experience or equivalent training and experience.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $ 68,400 - $102,600 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

- Design, assembly, documentation, testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits and systems from prototype to production assemblies
- Component level circuit design and troubleshooting
- CAD schematic capture
- Laboratory electrical measurement techniques
- Circuit simulation with SPICE or equivalent
- Troubleshooting down to the component level
- Mechanical and electrical chassis design and documentation
- Cabling and harness documentation and fabrication
- Familiarity with analog and digital circuit design and development
- Embedded programming
- Experience with FPGA or CPLD based designs
- Curiosity and a desire to learn new concepts, skills, and techniques
