Position Overview
As a Senior Estimator for Kiewit's Mass Electric Transportation, you will lead, support, and review various construction estimates of up to $200 million specifically for electrical projects within the transportation market.

Location
This position will be based out of Grapevine, TX - in the DFW area. Relocation assistance can be provided to candidates living outside the area as well.
Responsibilities
  • Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs (takeoff, estimate software entry, review, closeout, submission, and other functions).
  • Supervise estimators, confirm accuracy, and enforce company estimating standards.
  • Prepare estimate review deliverables and schedule & run estimate review meetings with executive management.
  • Review estimates prepared by other estimating groups and/or JV partners to determine completeness of data used, procedures, and aid in resolving differences in bid items.
  • Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and develop plans for actual construction to serve as a basis for the estimate.
  • Review all bids, contract documents, and home office legal department opinions.
  • Conduct site investigations prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any potential problems.
  • Utilize engineer techniques and procedures to conduct investigations and adhere to standard company policy and procedures.
  • Perform design work as required by the project that may be beyond the estimator scope of experience; handle any major technical problems encountered during bid preparation.
  • Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods, and procedures that are developing in the industry.
  • Prepare special engineering studies or reports if required by certain bid items or conditions.
  • Consult with owners on any problems discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc.
  • Mentor & train new hire employees on fundamentals of estimating.

Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of related experience in construction estimating, with some focus being on electrical work.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading estimating process and team members on construction projects.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or construction-related technology, OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills, and abilities described above.
  • Experience with National Electrical Code (NEC) and commercial electrical estimating.
  • Advanced experience using estimating software such as Bluebeam, Accubid, MS Excel, etc.
  • Experience leading and mentoring subordinates.
  • Ability to work successfully both individually and as a team to meet strict deadlines and project goals.
  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
