Job Description
AECOM is looking for a Senior Ecologist to support their Virginia Office to support environmental remediation projects with industrial clients.
Responsibilities
  • Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
  • Extensive experience in the application of field and laboratory investigative techniques to the study of birds in the wild.
  • Extensive experience with avian sampling, specifically mist netting and blood sampling.
  • Knowledge of environmental data collection, investigation, and interpretation.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and coaching to new or less experienced staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Position will require MVR, Drug screen and Background screen
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred degree in Biology, Zoology or closely related field
  • Working knowledge of habitats, behavior, and systematics of birds and mammals.
  • Ability to identify most woodland and open field bird species of eastern North America by sight and sound.
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Position requires field work, which involves work in rugged terrain and inclement weather conditions.
