Job Description
AECOM is looking for a Senior Ecologist to support their Virginia Office to support environmental remediation projects with industrial clients.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
- Extensive experience in the application of field and laboratory investigative techniques to the study of birds in the wild.
- Extensive experience with avian sampling, specifically mist netting and blood sampling.
- Knowledge of environmental data collection, investigation, and interpretation.
- Provide mentoring, guidance and coaching to new or less experienced staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Position will require MVR, Drug screen and Background screen
- U.S. Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred degree in Biology, Zoology or closely related field
- Working knowledge of habitats, behavior, and systematics of birds and mammals.
- Ability to identify most woodland and open field bird species of eastern North America by sight and sound.
- High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
- Position requires field work, which involves work in rugged terrain and inclement weather conditions.
