Title: Senior DevSecOps Engineer
CivitasDX is seeking skilled DevSecOps engineers who will support cloud applications distributed throughout our client’s test and production DevSecOps infrastructure in AWS GovCloud. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that includes Cloud Engineers, Developers, Test Automation professionals, and DBAs. We seek a Senior DevSecOps Engineer who’s passionate about using software-based approaches to solve complex infrastructure challenges and automate those solutions. You will work with a world-class engineering team to migrate and integrate complex software systems to AWS GovCloud (US) and on-premises private cloud infrastructures in support of our clients, the Department of Veterans Affairs Corporate Portfolio. You will be responsible for architecture, design, automating, and building cloud CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure. In the role of DevSecOps Engineer, you must be able to work in and adapt to a fluid, fast-paced environment. Working as a DevSecOps Engineer, you must have strong communication, collaboration, and technical skills
Skills and experience for this role include, and are not limited to:
- Delivery in an Agile, Lean, SAFe-based environment utilizing DevSecOps, ARTs, CI/CD, and related processes, methodologies, and concepts.
- Experience with development, support, and sustainment of the following technologies and services that are currently utilized by the applications to be migrated from MAX.gov to the AWS cloud, and the ability to perform upgrading to newer versions/newer technologies that will be required as part of the migration effort, to include utilization of AWS services and components:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) components, tools, architecture, setup, configuration, development, integration, migration, maintenance, sustainment, and support, with emphasis on Government cloud environments
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GIT, AWS/Azure DevOps tools and Pipelines, CloudFormation, Terraform, Artifactory, etc.
- Hands-on experience with the operations of AWS EC2, ECR, ECS, Fargate, Lambda, EKS, RDS, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch etc.
- Working knowledge of the AWS Console and the AWS CLI
- Experience with essential AWS services (VPC, ASG, ALB, S3, Route 53, RDS)
- Experience with other tools such as: AWS API Libraries, Java, JavaScript, Python/Go, Microservices, Serverless, Python, Bash shell scripting
- Object Oriented Programming within a delivery team, as well as worked on a DevOps team that supported a set of engineers
- Declarative Infrastructure as Code tools Cloud-based build and deployment pipelines, (Configuration as Code), Infrastructure-as Code (IaC) tools, including Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes, OpenShift, GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub, and Git, Python, Puppet, Docker, or Terraform, as well as Enterprise DevOps or similar shared service team experience
- Linux/Unix environments and supporting production enterprise applications
- Experience with Datadog or other monitoring tools
- Experience with cloud deployments and cluster resource management with AWS GovCloud including monitoring systems, logging, and security implementation
- Experience of software development processes and code management tools and processes
- Knowledge of DevOps Engineering Processes and Operations & Management (O&M)
- Ability to conduct in-depth triage, troubleshooting, and forensics across all facets of the cloud stack while executing process corrective action and continual service improvement.

- Required Education, Experience, and Clearance:
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required.
- AWS Certifications like AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or AWS DevOps Engineer are a plus.
- Linux certifications like RHCSA or CompTIA Linux+, are a plus
- 5 years minimum experience in a similar role/capacity.
- 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
- Ability to obtain a VA Position of Public Trust – Medium Background Investigation (MBI).
