The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Senior Desktop Support Specialist to provide advanced technical tier 2 expertise as part of a team in directing the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the City's personal computer resources; to assist computer users at the Information Technology Department help desk; accountable to the Chief Technology Officer for assigned priorities, task assignments and work completion; install personal computers and associated software and hardware necessary for operations throughout the organization.
- Provide tier 2 level technical hardware and software support. Respond to inquiries related to hardware and software. Identify and resolve technical, functional and user problems.
- Act as first point of contact for technical guidance to Client Services staff.
- Analyze and resolve problems with aim of eliminating recurrences.
- Research, install, upgrade, troubleshoot and maintain hardware, software and documentation for workstations.
- Work closely with supervisor to propose, formulate and implement strategies and procedures to efficiently deploy computer resources.
- Perform research and development tasks to ensure hardware and software interoperability.
- Perform accurate documentation and quality control as required.
- Ensure prompt and accurate feedback of problems to customers and management.
Experience:
Four years of increasingly responsible experience in information technology operations and support.
Training:
Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in MIS, Computer Science, Information systems, Computer Engineering, or other related field. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.
Preferred:
A+, One or more Microsoft (or other industry standard) certifications related to job duties.
Please Note: Candidates selected for a position within the Information Technology Department will be required to successfully complete a Police Department and fingerprint based background check.
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
