About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer with 8+ years of expertise in relational databases. In this pivotal role, you will lead the charge in elevating our data infrastructure and optimizing performance. Your focus will include database design, query optimization, setting standards, and contributing as a senior engineer, particularly in designing, developing, and enhancing various back-end services.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engineer: Take the lead in architecting, optimizing, and securing Lease End databases.
• Senior Engineer Role: Play a senior engineering role in the development and deployment of code, with a strong emphasis on back-end data-related services.
• Query Optimization: Fine-tune and establish best practices for queries, indexing, partitioning, and read/write efficiency. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Database Design: Participate in and guide database design and architecture for new product initiatives. Develop best practices for database design and development.
• Troubleshooting: Investigate database and application issues, performing root cause analysis.
• Deployment Procedures: Establish deployment procedures, working closely with the infrastructure team, and implement best practices for migrations and rollbacks.
• Monitoring and Alerting: Maintain monitoring and alerting systems for databases and contribute to a rotating on-call schedule.
• AWS Best Practices: Ensure best practices for using AWS database infrastructure and services.
• Data Backup and Recovery: Ensure proper data backup procedures and timely restoration as per Lease End's disaster recovery planning.
• Innovation: Contribute to a positive culture of innovation and creative problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent real-world experience.
• 8+ years of professional experience with a strong focus on relational databases, back-end data-related services, and SQL tuning.
• Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and GraphQL.
• Solid experience in managing relational databases on AWS infrastructure (RDS, Aurora, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking skills.
• Experience with AI/ML technologies is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
