Project Details:
Our banking client is going through an M&A process and are out of code with certain federal regulations. They need a consultant to help with audit capabilities for their databases.
Must Have Skills:
- 6+ years of experience as a DBA in an enterprise data center environment OR High School Diploma / GED and a minimum of 10 years work experience as a DBA in an enterprise data center environment.
- Solid understanding of relational database constructs with preference to competencies and experience with any three of the following platforms: DB2, Netezza, Postgres.
- Experienced understanding of data, database technology, and structured query languages.
- Experience with database auditing (Audit capability for the database, setting up new users, permissions, etc).
- Demonstrated ability to build databases with proper architectural design.
- Unix based environment with SQL servers. Needs to understand AIX, Redhat.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with shell scripting, backfile scripting
- Experience with Oracle, SQL Server
- Practical understanding and awareness of Netezza or comparable data warehouse technology with preference to those with some experience supporting a large enterprise data warehouse in a production environment.
Day to day responsibilities:
This position’s responsibilities include daily production support for the Oracle, SQL Server, Netezza, Postgres and DB2 database infrastructure. These database platforms are maintained on Windows/Linux (SQL Server), Linux (Oracle and Netezza) and AIX (DB2). Databases are virtualized using VMWare. Environment is 24×7 with over 5000 databases.
This position is also responsible for maintaining and managing the standards, documentation, backup and recovery, design and implementation of the physical data storage, virtualization of databases, maintenance, patching, installation, capacity planning, access, security administration (vulnerability assessment and protection of data), performance and availability, data integrity and troubleshooting of all assigned databases.
