We are looking for a Senior Data Solutions Engineer that has a strong understanding of property and casualty insurance data and has experience solving data engineering challenges in a variety of manners; that is intellectually curious, and is committed to unlocking the value of data. Using Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, Sql Server and SAS technologies, the main responsibilities for this role will be focused on creating various datasets for our Actuaries, Data Scientists, and other analysts to support ratemaking, modeling, and other types of actuarial analysis. You will work directly with these associates to identify areas of opportunity and in partnership with our IT team, leverage various data sources to build and deliver these data sets. This role will also help to build the foundation of our data ecosystem leveraging various cloud technologies.

- Constructs business facing datasets from a variety of sources internal and external to enable and perform analysis based on requests from project teams or senior leadership.
- Breaks down business opportunities to identify business facing datasets to appropriately align to organizational needs through a business perspective.
- Integrates data from multiple data sources or functional areas, evaluates data quality, and transforms data as needed.
- Analyzes and interprets data to identify business trends, conduct root cause analysis of business problems, or suggest areas for process improvement.
- Growth oriented mindset with a strong desire to learn and stay current on best practices and emerging capabilities to analyze data.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- 10+ years of data engineering experience
- 5+ years in Property & Casualty Insurance with a thorough understanding of insurance data and core insurance metrics
- Leadership and mentoring skills
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced knowledge of SQL, Python, R, SAS, and other various data engineering tools
- Ability to manage large complex projects or processes independently
