What you'll be doing...

The Verizon Corporate Information Security (CIS) organization securely enables the business by protecting assets and information across Verizon networks, infrastructure and applications. CIS integrates cybersecurity governance, policies, technologies and operations across Verizon, and works to incorporate security into the design of technology systems and services.

The Data Protection Services team provides enterprise-wide Data Protection capabilities, including tokenization and encryption, across the data lifecycle, by supplying highly available and scalable technical services, developing novel Data Protection solutions and architectures, setting policy and standards, and partnering with stakeholder groups on broad Data Protection governance activities.

The Data Protection Services team provides leadership for the design, engineering and implementation of Data Protection services and capabilities across the enterprise. The team participates in solution design and development in areas such as Data Discovery and Classification, Policy Authoring, Definition and Enforcement, Test Data Management, Privacy Enhancing Techniques (PETs), and provides capabilities and thought leadership as an enabling component of Zero Trust architecture, in Data Authorization.

  • Architecting, designing and implementing Privacy-Preserving Data Protection and data authorization solutions.
  • Architecting, designing and implementing Test Data Management capabilities, leveraging industry best practices, and new technologies such as K2View, Tonic.ai, etc.
  • Assessing the application teams' TDM capabilities and states of non-prod data to ensure compliance.
  • Onboarding applications to TDM platform.
  • Designing and implementing of new capabilities in support of Data de-identification, Unstructured File Analysis, Crown Jewel Data Protection and Global Workforce Data Protection, in alignment with enterprise security architecture Zero Trust principles.
  • Designing and implementing of technical security standards covering Data Protection standards (such as data disposition and encryption) for systems involved in processing sensitive data.
  • Managing and maintaining Data Protection technologies to better identify and protect sensitive data, including understanding of delegated / distributed Data Protection capabilities managed outside of the team.
  • Having significant ownership insecurity around Data Encryption & Protection (DEP).
  • Interacting with users and stakeholders to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications, in alignment with Data Protection standards and policies.
  • Supporting and consulting with vendor, infrastructure and development teams to assist the business units with implementing sound Data Protection practices along with interfacing with customers in support of their Data Protection requirements.
  • Managing vendor relationships for various Data Protection solutions.
  • Liaising with off-shore development teams supporting Data Protection capabilities, as well as internal customer applications.
  • Training and oversight of Jr. Engineering resources in support of the team mission.
  • Leveraging advanced knowledge of security operations, cyber security tools, intrusion detection, and secured networks to diagnose and resolve configuration, programming and reporting issues.
  • Determining and reporting the accomplishments of project initiatives across the stakeholder groups providing consulting and guidance on how to drive business results from the data available.

In this remote role, you'll work from home with occasional in-person trainings and meetings.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in Privacy Engineering, Data Protection Engineering and/or Privacy-by-Design.
  • Experience in Information security, Data Governance, Data Protection technologies, Policy and Standard development, IT, application development and/or support.
  • Experience in and knowledge of Privacy Enhancing Techniques like de-identification, pseudonymization, anonymization, k-anonymity, differential privacy.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's Degree in information security, cyber security, computer science or a related field.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills along with the ability to handle multiple priorities and challenging situations.
  • Experience in IT, application development and support, and Cybersecurity.
  • Strong relationship skills and collaborative style to enable success across multiple partners.
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly explain highly complex issues to senior executives.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to peers or senior executives.
  • Ability to negotiate when warranted, in order to work with other teams.
  • Ability to grasp and assess "big picture" issues and bring them to light in order to foster positive change for a more robust data ingestion platform and process.
  • Experience in Cloud and Containerized architecture.
