Job Description
Are you a passionate and experienced Civil Engineer who wants to contribute to challenging and interesting projects that provide direct value to our communities? Do you have expertise in the dam space and are looking to join a high performing team? With recurrent project wins and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking a motivated Senior Dam Engineer (Civil) to join our San Antonio or Austin, Texas AECOM Water Resources and Dams Team.
The central Texas Civil (Water Resources) and Dams Team is a center of technical excellence and often wins work purely on the strength of its people and its great reputation. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Conceptual to detailed design of water dams, retarding basins, service basins
+ Prepare and supervise the civil design plan, specification and cost estimates
+ Inspection, investigation and condition assessment of existing dams including review and surveillance of monitoring data.
+ Comprehensive Safety Reviews and FERC Part12D Inspections of existing Dams and Hydropower. This would require the leading of multidisciplinary teams to deliver all aspects.
+ Perform Alternatives Analyses, Feasibility Studies, and Detailed Designs with strong knowledge of design drawings and technical specifications.
+ Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications.
+ Conduct potential failure mode analyses and risk analyses for water storage and hydropower dams, including identifying and developing potential failure modes, and serving as Independent Consultant or Facilitator in risk analysis workshops.
+ Perform as Capture Manager for pre-positioning and preparing proposals
+ Client liaison and experience with technical review boards.
+ Project management of multidisciplinary teams and the engagement of AECOM’s operations/finance teams
+ Mentoring and technical development of junior staff, supporting them to achieve technical success
+ Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
+ Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas, or ability to obtain within 6 months

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ years or more of relevant experience
  • Strong PM skills, ability to deliver multidisciplinary projects on schedule at the as-sold margin
  • Ability to effectively mentor Deputy PMs and junior staff
  • Business development for new and existing clients, prepare engineering services proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Active participation in ASDSO and/or USSD (or ICOLD)
  • Experience working on risk analysis projects (PFMA, SQRA/L2RA)
  • Strong writing and communication skills; must be a resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to people
  • Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution
  • Travel requirements up to 10%

  • Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation ([insert state] locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $185,000.
