Senior Cost Accountant

Job Description

In this position you will:

• Monitor project costs for Engineering to Order, Build to Order products and Contracted Services including preparation of monthly cost entries.
• Analyze and communicate timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to operations management.
• Assist in Quarterly forecast and Annual Manufacturing Operating Plan.
• Lead the generation of departmental expense statements and hours to operations.
• Identify operational reporting gaps and lead improvements.
• Support a monthly operational review with Plant and Departmental Management on budget and/or forecast to actual.
• Perform annual standard cost update as it relates to material, manufacturing labor, overhead and surcharge rates.
• Work closely with manufacturing operations to ensure accurate and timely capture of all production costs and effective analysis of production variances.
• Compile and analyze project costs providing business explanations for variances between actuals and estimates.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to reduce cost and improve profitability.
• Finance representative for annual physical inventory counts.

 

1. Additionally regular monthly responsibilities

• Perform month end close as it relates to inventory, production variances, and project costs.
• Perform general ledger account reconciliations.
• Prepare and post standard and non-standard journal entries.
• Operational Reporting

Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

Requirements: 
•    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
•    5+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment in a cost accounting role
•    Experience in Engineering to Order Products
•    Experience with ERP systems and Standard Costing Systems, ideally LN or Baan

Preferred Qualifications:
•    CPA, CMA or Master's Degree a plus
•    Ability to write in a clear and concise manner
•    Ability to build professional relationships
•    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
•    Computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
•    Mathematical skills
•    Solid Accounting Skills and Understanding of Standard Costing and Impacts of Financial Transactions
