An American Pharmaceutical Company is seeking an experienced patent attorney in New Jersey. The attorney will support clients across multiple functional areas to provide strategic counsel to key client groups, especially in the development organization with a focus on biologic formulations, processes, and development innovations.
Responsibilities include providing strategic counsel on all facets of Intellectual Property law, including patent preparation, procurement, enforcement, freedom to operate, and business development diligences.
The candidate is expected to collaborate well with other in-house and outside attorneys to accomplish the objectives of the BMS Intellectual Property Department.
The attorney will work closely with clients in various functions in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment and will collaborate with other in-house and outside attorneys to accomplish BMS objectives.
The ideal candidate possesses the following qualifications:

• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• J.D. degree or equivalent and admission to at least one state bar.
• 8 or more years of patent law experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the biological sciences. An advanced degree and/or scientific research experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Service-oriented focus with ability to work as part of cross-functional teams and drive results.
• Highest integrity, excellent judgment and the ability to proactively recognize and effectively assess business risk and communicate legal issues to patent, legal and general management.
