How You'll Make a Difference:
Reporting to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, the Senior Corporate Counsel will assist in protecting Arkos Health's legal interests and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law. Provides expert legal support by drafting, amending, and negotiating complex healthcare contracts with an emphasis on value-based care (VBC). Supports the organization by delivering hands-on counsel to all levels of the executive staff and assists in managing the operations of the legal department.

**We are seeking remote applicants, preferably in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, or any state except California, Colorado, New Jersey, New York, and Washington.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides legal counsel and support throughout the organization and to the executive team and conducts legal research
  • Drafts and reviews complex VBC contract and business negotiations that minimize risk
  • Draft and negotiate agreements for a variety of strategic business tractions (mergers, acquisitions, etc.) and commercial contracts
  • Manages several legal specialties to include but not limited to acquisitions, mergers, contractual law, VBC, and HIPAA, and governing regulations
  • Assisting in supporting compliance program (OIG/SAMS/anti-kickback statute, fraud and abuse, and Stark Law)
  • Assist with the management of corporate governance and compliance issues
  • Participate in the development and improvement of corporate and compliance policies, procedures, and programs
  • Identifies and analyzes legal issues, drafts key documents, presents clear recommendations to top management, and assures legal compliance in a healthcare setting
  • Provides thorough knowledge and expertise in intellectual property, information security, and SEC
  • Respond to and resolve sensitive inquiries from the executive team and external sources
  • Drive and support efforts to reduce outside counsel spend
  • Manage various special projects and deadlines as directed by General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer
  • Assists in managing outside counsel and may participate in discovery or mediation as needed
  • Maintains knowledge of local, state, and federal legislation and jurisprudence affecting healthcare programs and activities

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Must be admitted and in good standing with at least one state bar
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with a strong preference for VBC background, Medicaid, Medicare, and exclusion list
  • Experience with national law firm strongly preferred, as well as in-house counsel role with healthcare company, preferably with large Plan or Payor
  • Experience with public or PE/VC backed companies preferred
  • Strong analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues
