The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO, we are in search of an exceptionally qualified Senior Corporate Counsel to oversee the legal aspects of our business operations. Your role will be pivotal in safeguarding our reputation by ensuring strict adherence to legal guidelines and providing expert legal advice to management on a wide range of relevant issues.
The ideal candidate will be adept at ensuring legal compliance and reducing the company's exposure to potential risks.
Responsibilities:
Provide accurate and timely legal counsel to executives on various topics including labor law, partnerships, international ventures, and corporate finance.
Collaborate with management to develop efficient defense strategies.
Establish internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance.
Conduct research and evaluate different risk factors associated with business decisions and operations.
Working with external advisors on matters related to intellectual property.
Utilize effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on potential legal issues.
Communicate and negotiate with external parties such as regulators, external counsel, and public authorities, fostering trust-based relationships.
Draft and finalize agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to safeguard the company's legal rights.
Address complex matters involving multiple stakeholders and forces.
Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to all levels of the organization.
Conduct work with integrity and responsibility.
Stay updated on changes in legislation.
Requirements and Skills:
Proven experience as a Legal Counsel in a business environment.
Sound business judgement; ability to partner with the business and act as the company’s legal expert.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
Comprehensive understanding of the external influences on corporate environments.
Experience of taking a growth business through IPO is a strong advantage.
A background from the technology industry is a plus, specifically hardware, or FMCG, Pharmaceutical or other CPG sub-industries.
Demonstrated ability to develop legal defensive or proactive strategies.
High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
Strong judgment and analytical skills.
Outstanding communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in Law.
A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration would be considered advantageous.
