Senior Corporate Accountant
Job Overview/Summary
Our client is in search of an experienced and detail oriented Senior Accountant to take responsibility of all financial reporting. This position will be accountable for the preparation of annual financial statements and research technical and new accounting standards. This role will also be expected to maintain a working knowledge of IFRS, as well as remain up to date on new accounting developments and assist with special or ad-hoc projects. The Senior Corporate Accountant will need to be able to work cross-functionally as they will be interacting with closely with members of the Finance and FP&A teams, domestic and international departments, as well as managers throughout the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Annual Reporting (25%)
- Prepare the Company’s audited Annual Financial Statements and Disclosures
- Prepare the Company’s Subsidiary Reporting Package for consolidation into Group financial statements
- Review and complete the Annual Disclosure Checklist, year-end accounting memorandums, and serve as a liaison with external auditors
- Coordinate valuation models used in impairment analysis
Technical Accounting Research & Documentation (25%):
- Perform technical accounting research for complex accounting transactions (e.g. Business Development M&A, Leases, etc.)
- Document findings and conclusions in accounting memorandums (“white papers”)
Accounting Guidance Implementation (20%):
- Provide implementation guidance and recommendations for current and new IFRS standards
- Be a technical accounting resource for departments across the organization
- Analyze and track new IFRS accounting standards and accounting policies passed down by the Group and ensure compliance with Group accounting manual
Management Reporting (20%):
- Liaise with FP&A team to assist with and support monthly internal reporting compared to budget/forecast
- Liaise, as needed, with Parent Company Finance team
Other Accounting Areas (10%):
- Census reporting
- Maintain Reporting department calendar and process documentation
- Ad-hoc projects at direction of Manager, Accounting and Reporting
Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required
- Years and Type of Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required, Master’s degree preferred
- CPA qualification, knowledge of IFRS
- Minimum of 3 years of experience public accounting role
- Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Advanced analytical skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Written, Verbal and Face-to-face communication
- Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate and maintain relationships with department managers
- Flexibility to handle changing priorities and tight deadlines
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and multi functional resources concurrently while maintaining high attention to detail
