Idaho Power — headquartered in Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Senior Contracting Agent to join our Supply Chain team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. This temporary 3-year position is primarily focused on providing contracting support for critical infrastructure projects. The role is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location and offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.
What does a Senior Contracting Agent do for us?
The Senior Contracting Agent is part of Idaho Power’s Supply Chain Procurement team. The agent:
Proactively leads stakeholders in the development of internal customer service and goods contracts of moderate risk and/or complexity
Leads the competitive bidding process, negotiates, and prepares contract documents
Meets business unit cost objectives with focus on best value to Idaho Power
Works closely with business unit partners and all levels of leadership to execute procurement strategies
Provides contracting and contract management support for critical projects that are crucial to Clean Today, Cleaner Tomorrow® (https://www.idahopower.com/energy-environment/energy/clean-today-cleaner-tomorrow/) — Idaho Power’s goal of providing 100% clean energy by 2045. These transmission projects will allow Idaho Power to import safe, reliable, affordable, clean energy from the Pacific Northwest to meet growing demand in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:
Sourcing and contracting practices, commercial terms, developing and writing a statement of work, negotiations, and supplier risk management techniques
Purchasing and contracting strategies and business acumen
ERP systems and procurement tools
Skills in:
Strong customer service
Time management, decision making, presentation, critical thinking, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Focusing on quality with strong attention to detail
Being results-oriented with strong analytical skills
Managing and coordinating multiple projects, including competing mandates
MS Office programs, and other procurement tools and software
Developing and implementing negotiation, contract, and supplier strategies
Ability to:
Manage and/or work on project teams or independently
Establish effective working relationships with a variety of audiences
Work well in a team environment
Provide strong customer support
Facilitate interpersonal and group tasks
Apply time management techniques and be flexible with changing priorities to ensure proper and timely completion of assignments
Gather information, identify trends, and apply findings to assignments, develop alternatives
Work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and maintain composure while dealing effectively with a diverse customer base and constructively work under stress and pressure when faced with high workloads and aggressive deadlines
May be required to work extended hours in the event of large emergencies, i.e., fires, outages, etc., or as requested by leadership
Embrace change and accept challenge, ask difficult questions, and solve problems
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
Experience:
- 6 or more years related work experience
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
