Job description

Stradley Ronon is seeking a Senior Content Writer to serve as a driving force for content generation, writing, and editing that supports the firm’s business development and marketing efforts. This position will work closely with firm and department leadership and the Marketing team to produce impactful print and digital content that helps inform and influence decision makers.

The Senior Content Writer works with colleagues across the Marketing department on projects such as practice descriptions, marketing materials, and client pitches and presentations. Additionally, the Senior Content Writer interfaces with lawyers and a variety of teams, including Talent Development and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), on strategic projects and initiatives.
This is a hybrid role that can reside in any of Stradley’s Philadelphia, Malvern, Cherry Hill, New York, or Washington, DC offices.
Responsibilities

  • Assumes a leading role in drafting and editing:
    • Practice and industry content for firm website and blogs
    • Editorial content for the firm’s social media channels, particularly LinkedIn and Twitter
    • Thought leadership pieces, including articles and client alerts
    • Recent client successes, accomplishments, and completed deals
    • Significant firm and lawyer award submissions
    • Marketing materials such as brochures and attorney bios
    • Firm advertising copy
    • Materials that support lateral recruiting efforts
  • Collaborates with the Business Development team and attorneys to draft request for proposals and client pitches.
  • Works with the Communications team to promote significant client successes and other notable industry developments and accomplishments.
  • Engages with the Creative Services and Marketing Technology teams to translate content into visually impactful digital and print pieces.
  • Partners with the Talent Development and DEI teams on projects, including the DEI newsletter, recruiting materials, and other digital and print pieces to help advance the firm’s strategic objectives around talent acquisition and retention.

Requirements/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in English, Marketing, Journalism, or Communications strongly preferred; JD a plus but not required.
  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of increasingly responsible, directly related experience.
  • Experience in the communications, business development, or marketing department of a law firm or professional services firm is strongly desired; public relations agency or media newsroom experience a plus.
  • Excellent writing and editing experience with a proven record of content creation and copy editing.
  • Understanding of AP writing style.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate creatively, clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with attorneys, staff, and vendors. Requires creativity, discretion, and the ability to persuade others.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a heavy workload in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts regarding matters of a complex nature and to build effective relationships.
  • Required experience in one or more areas: journalism; public relations/public affairs; digital communications (web, social media, blogging); internal communications.
  • Ability to research a variety of topics through web and library searches, interviews, and other methods and to translate the knowledge to strategically written collateral.
  • Ability to make presentations to small and/or large groups in an effective manner.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to produce memos, spreadsheets, slides, and standard work documents.
  • Understanding digital customer journeys and developing SEO strategy is desired.
  • Ability to track and evaluate analytics for the purpose of demonstrating the effectiveness of communications efforts.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed, including occasional travel to other Stradley offices.
