Position Summary
Scientific Games is recruiting an excellent writer who has the ability to convey complex ideas and information in easy-to-read, easy-to-follow, customer-focused narratives for the role of Senior Content Writer.
As an integral member of Scientific Games' Global Proposals team, you will help develop dynamic responses to RFx procurements for lottery products and services. Our proposals educate current and prospective customers on the company's products, services and industry expertise and further establish SG as the clear partner of choice for government lotteries worldwide.
In this role, you will collaborate with and work seamlessly across all levels of SG's global business, as you research and write compelling, deadline-driven responses to RFxs and whitepapers as well as related documents for product sales opportunities.

Job Duties/Key Accountabilities:
  • Support all phases of the proposal development writing process, including reviewing and understanding RFx opportunity requirements.
  • Write key proposal section summaries, executive summaries, transmittal letters, resumes and other strategic segments.Collaborate with business leads, sales teams, product management teams, and internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop proposal content that clearly articulates our solutions, strategy, and approach to performing the work, win themes, and differentiators.
  • Proactively engage with diverse internal SG stakeholders to gather, organize, and synthesize content for RFx responses, understand RFx requirements, synthesize technical discussions, and incorporate existing content in developing new content.
  • Lead strategy meetings in advance of upcoming RFP releases to identify and document critical needs of customers, determine product and solution positioning, analyze competitors, and establish win themes.
  • Facilitate proposal reviews to ensure all claims are accurately and convincingly substantiated and to incorporate changes and improvements to content.
  • Assist junior writers in enhancing existing and developing additional writing skills.
  • Draft concise, complete, clear, and compliant proposal responses to customer requirements and/or questions in accordance with established company guidelines.
  • Communicate complex and technical concepts through easily understood and compelling written narrative and graphics.
  • Apply a persuasive writing style to incorporate win themes and align proposal strategy.
  • Update boilerplate, product write-ups, draft new content, copyedit, and rewrite content.
  • Work with graphics team to create and update graphics to support response narrative; provide feedback and direction to complete graphic creation process.
  • Conduct competitive evaluations and SWOT analysis for continuous bid scoring and win ratio improvement.
  • Lead post-bid reviews to identify and apply lessons learned to improve processes that lead to higher levels of proposal quality.
  • Utilize software programs to access proposal content for proposal writing activities.
  • Update team on task progression and proactively follow up on adherence to timelines, and perform work within specified response and turnaround times.
  • Ensure proper grammar, message consistency, and voice for all written materials.
  • Contribute to process development and ongoing process improvement efforts.
  • Participate in professional industry-related societies and activities.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Communications, or related field.
  • 6-to-10 years of technical writing in a sales environment, trade publication and/or proposal writing.
  • Prior experience working in a business environment.
  • Ability to develop deep content knowledge of SG's products, technologies, services, and expertise.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of RFI/ RFP and government procurement processes.
  • Superior writing and editing skills with the ability to shape ideas into easy-to-understand, well-organized written content.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills as well as exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage a project from beginning to end.
  • Demonstrate command of the structure and use of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammatical consistency.
  • Ability to review copy for errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling and to check copy for readability and style, suggest revisions, change words, and rearrange sentences and paragraphs to improve clarity and/or accuracy of content.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and precise attention to detail.
  • Excellent research, interviewing and information-gathering skills.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends to accommodate workload and delivery of projects, as needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat.
