Job Summary
The Senior Content Strategy Supervisor is responsible for providing thought leadership, overseeing content development and deployment, interpreting the usefulness of web pages and providing second level CMS support. This position optimizes the capabilities of UPS SCS website Content Management System (CMS). This position may supervise Content Maintenance Specialists.

Job Duties

Analyzes Project Requirements and Develops Content Strategy

  • Reviews business and functional requirements (e.g., project documents, wireframes, page specifications, etc.) to understand scope of projects.
  • Works with sponsors, Managing Editors, and related Digital Experience disciplines to understand content needs and project scope.
  • Develops content matrices to identify content changes and to define Content Strategy (e.g., create new or existing business solutions content, contextual application help, error messages, FAQs, etc.).
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to share project information and to advise on content standards.

Develops UPS SCS Site Content

  • Performs Content Strategy to develop new content to support business initiatives.
  • Develops content within the CMS to publish on UPS SCS site.
  • Edits existing content in the Content Management System (CMS) to support business initiatives as well as supported languages to ensure global consistency.
  • Solicits feedback from sponsors (e.g., product manager, Marketing group, etc.) to confirm content accuracy.
  • Develops hand coded HTML and XML pages to aid in complex content development tasks.
  • Completes CMS development on complex page types to assist in releases and maintenance processes.
  • Assists Content Maintenance Lead in solving problems in the production environment to limit impacts to customers while using UPS SCS Site.

Oversees Content Deployment

  • Manages deployment schedule to ensure project timelines are followed.
  • Represents Digital Content in deployment planning meetings to determine an agreed upon deployment schedule.
  • Troubleshoots problems with deployment of UPS SCS site messaging elements from CMS to ensure successful deployment of messages.
  • Develops new deployment strategies to increase efficiency and self-sufficiency of IC deployment process.
  • Recognizes opportunities across content publishing groups and collaborates with stakeholders to consolidate and synchronize content deployments

Performs Quality Assurance Testing in Multiple Environments

  • Tests changes and additions to UPS SCS site or CMS in multiple testing environments to confirm expected results.
  • Utilizes quality assurance tools and processes to identify content errors.
  • Edits online content to resolve defects prior to content publishing into production.

Documents Improvements to Processes and Site Changes

  • Identifies and communicates changes to documents (e.g., editorial style guides, etc.) to ensure documentation (e.g., editorial designs, page types, etc.) is current.
  • Communicates suggested enhancements to Content Management System team to justify system improvements.
  • Shares new Content Management System methods with Interactive Communication peers to improve processes.

Provides Second Level CMS Support

  • Provides solutions to Content Developers to resolve user problems.
  • Researches and interprets results of troubleshooting to determine root cause of system issues.
  • Prioritizes system defects to ensure timely resolution.
  • Communicates defect resolution status and system issues with affected parties to keep them informed and aware of necessary plan adjustments.
  • Provides leadership of CMS user support to ensure CMS users experience minimal issues.

Interprets Website Analytics

  • Interprets results of web analytics (i.e., analysis of search activity on UPS.com) to determine level of activity and effectiveness of web pages.
  • Records and reviews results of web analytics to determine priority of requests for changes.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for moderately complex and medium duration projects as well as basic programs; defines most of the initiatives project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; develops recommendations on best way to fulfill the project requirements given the current project and organizational dynamics; overcomes basic organizational resistance to cross-functional demands; demonstrates ability to successfully apply the project management discipline and remains current on project management practices and tools.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of basic project planning processes, including planning action items and resources.
  • Uses in-depth techniques to uncover new information or details that are not readily available; selects techniques and strategies that are appropriate for the audience; chooses techniques that result in more accurate and thorough information; implements strategies that minimize biases and preconceived ideas.
  • Modifies or adjusts logistics, schedule, rollout plans, or support material; identifies and communicates routine implementation issues and plans; uses existing plans to implement technology solutions.
  • Leverages technological knowledge to achieve business objectives; resolves technological issues impeding work; adapts technological information, facts, or data to varying situations or groups; recommends changes to technological approach based upon knowledge of trends and best practices.

Education
Bachelors Degree - Journalism Preferred
Bachelors Degree - Mgmt Information Systems Preferred
Bachelors Degree - Marketing Preferred
Bachelors Degree - Communications Preferred
Bachelors Degree - Required - Required
