Senior Consumer Loan Underwriter

• Review loan applications of varying complexity, value, and risk
• Work with loan processors and customers to gather and verify additional application, financial, and background information on applicants applying for loans
• Analyze paystubs, bank statements, individual tax returns and schedules, and infrequent business & commercial financial statements
• Review credit reports and verify outstanding individual debts to be considered during the underwriting process
• Calculate key ratios including debt, payment-to-income, loan-to-income ratios, prepare financial spreads, and calculate secured and unsecured debt levels
• Approve or deny loan applications
• Verify the accuracy of loan amounts and repayment terms on approved loan applications
• Explain reasons for denial and explain available options for applicants
• Ensure that sound analysis and lending procedures are followed in compliance with the Lending policy and all Regulations
• Assist in the operational development and workflow efficiency through creation and/or revision of established policies and procedures
• Review and analyze automated decision rules in the loan origination system for accuracy and compliance. Make suggestions for improvements as needed
• Answer questions regarding loan products
• Assist in lending team training
• Resolve applicant complaints in a professional manner

• Bachelor's degree
• 3+ years' of Consumer Loan processing and underwriting experience in products such as unsecured installment loans or credit cards
