Job description

The Loan Operations’ Collection Department is looking for a self-motivated, results-oriented, and adaptable Collection Specialist with strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to join our team. The first phase of responsibility is to contact borrowers, assist in resolution of present delinquency, and encourage timely payments in future transactions. The Collection Specialist should have strong negotiation skills and be able to work within MidFirst Bank’s policy and regulatory requirements to assist borrowers in successfully honoring their financial responsibility and retaining ownership of secured property.
Additionally, this individual will be responsible for working with attorneys representing MidFirst Bank during the lifecycle of legal actions such as repossessions, short sales, foreclosures, and bankruptcy. The Collection Specialist will prepare files for attorneys and track completion of action items in satisfaction of legal, regulatory, and MidFirst Bank requirements.
This individual will also be an integral part of the overall collection team and will be expected to assist with collection calls on other products such as charged-off deposit accounts and credit cards as time allows and volume demands. There will also be opportunities to work on other projects and duties as assigned.
Strong analytical and process evaluation skills is critical as the Collector will identify process improvements and work with management, to create an integrated workflow that demands response to regulator triggers, provides reporting and monitoring of all phases of the asset as it moves to closure. Along with identifying and participating in design of improved processes, the Agent will manage the portfolio with the designed workflow and work with management to protect the bank’s interest and assure compliance with all regulatory and state laws.
Must Possess Strong working knowledge of:

  • Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)
  • Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
  • Service Members Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
  • Unfair, Deceptive, Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP)
  • Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)
  • The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency 2000-20 (OCC 2000-20)
  • Health Insurance Portability and accountability Act (HIPAA)
The hours for this position are 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of extended hours one or two days per week, as needed.
Position Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Collection Specialist or similar role (minimum 2-4 years)
  • Proven experience managing repossessions, foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings (minimum 2-4 years)
  • Strong negotiation skills with knowledge of various collection techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to quickly learn and navigate various internal systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple on-going assignments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to interact professionally with others in the Collections Department, Loan Operations, customers, and with attorneys.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond well to change.
