About the role
Reporting to the Head of Claims - Americas, you will work closely with the Underwriting and Middle Office/Operations teams of MS Reinsurance. This role will be responsible for assisting the Head of Claims with the management of the (US domestic and Latin America) claims portfolio for all classes of business underwritten by MS Reinsurance's New York and Miami Office.

Your responsibilities

• Manage daily claim activities and be responsible for assigned portfolio across a variety of classes of business, including the prompt payment of claim settlements and setting of reserves.
• Investigate and assess new and existing claims, including the review of contractual wordings to determine coverage and quantum of exposure, and ensure professional communication about claims with all relevant internal/external stakeholders.
• Ensure consistency and adequacy of timely case reserves, and work towards prompt and timely resolution of claims.
• Monitor data quality for assigned portfolio.
• Liaise with the Contracts and Wordings team to propose any amendments to reinsurance clauses that are deemed necessary and appropriate.
• Collaborate closely with the Middle Office/Operations Team to advise on complex claims matters.
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, clients and brokers.
• Arrange client contacts to discuss claim developments, current claims trends and potential issues.
• Conduct and attend reinsurers claims audits for assigned portfolio and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Assume responsibility for other ad hoc duties including assisting with the production and presentation of claims reports and management information reports, as required.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and standards (local or group level) as well as with applicable regulations.
• Undertake any other duties of a similar nature that the company reasonable requests to be performed that is within the expertise and skills of the jobholder.
• Deputize for team colleagues during their absence.

Your profile

• Minimum 6 years claims handling experience within the reinsurance industry.
• Extensive experience with and in-depth knowledge of technical reinsurance claims handling.
• A University/College degree in a business or legal discipline is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of property, casualty, and specialty re/insurance lines of business.
• Solid understanding of reinsurance contract terms and structures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications together with a proven track record of attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English as well as Spanish is a must.
• Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines.
• Highly collaborative team player, with the ability to use initiative and self-manage whilst being able to work effectively in a team environment.

Salary Range: $118,432 -$148,040 - $177,648
