Position Purpose

Retain, secure, and grow retail revenues by creating and exploiting opportunities to market electricity, gas and the company’s products and services in all market sectors. Retain, expand and attract business within Unitil’s service territories. Act as the single point of contact with Unitil’s designated key business and industrial customers, insuring the quality of service and opening business communications to counter competitive pressures.

Principal Accountabilities

20% Demonstrates continuously that she/he supports both the Corporate Mission and the Department’s Mission through actions that are consistent with Unitil Core Principles:

• Respects fellow employees opinions and suggestions and encourages others to openly communicate their ideas,

• Takes an active leadership role in team efforts and continuously strives to achieve departmental goals,

• Accepts ownership of his/her job; makes strategic decisions consistent with the Mission and in a timely manner; takes risks to achieve goals,

• Actively seeks opportunities to mentor and is always a positive influence in support of team efforts and on other team members,

• Support operations during storm restoration efforts and other system emergencies including; on-call duties to staff local EOCs, outage coordination and support customer service as needed.

25% Consistent with Unitil’s mission and strategic objectives, grow retail revenues by:

• Creating and exploiting opportunities to market gas, electricity and the company’s products and services to large commercial and industrial market sectors. Negotiating and executing contracts that benefit both the customer and the company,

• Establishing Unitil as a strategic energy partner with the company’s most strategic business and industrial customers. Resolving complex key customer issues, managing multi-dimensional projects and making strategic decisions consistent with the mission,

• Developing and administering new products and services to support revenue growth by working with manufacturers and vendors to determine application of new technology and/or processes and then initiate, develop and present comparative engineering and economic analysis to support application of these products and services.

25% Attract, retain, and expand business within Unitil’s service territories through:

• The development of strong, fully integrated and mutually beneficial relationships with designated key business and industrial customers and local, regional and national economic development professionals,

• Collaborative efforts with public/private economic development agency partners that result in the relocation of businesses to Unitil’s service territories, enable business expansions and ensure the overall viability of the business community,

• Assist in the delivery of Energy Efficiency programs to large commercial and industrial customer segments.

15% Secure designated key customer/stakeholder support for Unitil initiatives by:

• Developing and Delivering key account management processes that are customer focused and targeted to create and maintain critical and delicate customer relationships for maximum benefit to customers and Unitil. Demonstrating knowledge, leadership and credibility with customers.

15% Provide constant and effective communications to company management through formal and informal communication processes. Deliver communications to all external stakeholders that create a common message and singular voice for Unitil in the various publics it encounters. Be perceived as an expert across technical, strategic and business areas. Contribute to the development and coordination of Unitil’s and Customer Energy Solutions strategic planning efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Marketing/Business, Engineering or equivalent. MBA and technical background preferred. 8-10 years of related experience.

• Must be able to demonstrate successful professional experience across technical, strategic and business areas.

• Must have advanced negotiation, computer, organizational and communication skills (oral/written).
