Job description

To assist the BSA Officer with the implementation and administration of all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act compliance program and assist with various assignments supporting the Compliance Program of the bank, under the guidance of the VP, BSA/Fraud Officer and BSA Manager. This position performs various quality control reviews and monitoring pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering Program, OFAC, and Customer Identification Program compliance, using industry standard and regulatory guidance to ensure the Bank's compliance efforts are maintained daily.

  • Maintain current knowledge of all federal and state laws and regulations, along with the Bank's policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily reviews of all assigned alerts for suspicious patterns and activity and escalate cases that may require additional research for potential SAR filing.
  • Prepare Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to ensure the Bank meets regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Assist with clearing potential OFAC/Watchlist hits.
  • Conduct EDD reviews on High-Risk Customers.
  • Assist with collecting information for Audits.
  • Monitors and updates daily wire log and collects information for monthly wire reports to review for suspicious activity.
  • Review documentation for all new commercial and consumer accounts for risking per the Bank's risk rating criteria.
  • Maintains Red Flag log and prepares report for quarterly Compliance Committee and Audit Committee meetings.
  • Maintains OFAC False Positive file, Green Card log, Non-Resident Alien accounts log, and others.
  • Daily review of the Q Drive/ Scanned Docs for anything relevant to BSA (red flag, reg. E, New Account Docs, Change Forms).
  • Assists in researching relevant topics, trends, etc., and developing and recording policy and procedure changes.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned.
  • Reviews Reg O daily and is to notify the BSA Manager and the BSA Officer of overdrafts.
  • All employees are responsible for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and in some roles, OFAC regulations. Depending on your job responsibilities, more or less aspects of the regulations may apply, but at a minimum , all employees are responsible for reporting suspicious activity they identify in the course of performing their job duties. This includes activities conducted by customers, fellow employees, board members, and vendors.

Requirements
  • Requires a high level of tact and integrity due to the frequency of communicating with high-level internal and external contacts, as well as regular exposure to confidential data.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills must speak English.
  • Advanced analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment, handle multiple tasks, consistently meet established deadlines, and deliver exceptional results.
  • Work closely with other teams and departments to support the processes and products towards improving the monitoring oversight.
  • Excellent technical skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong operational background.
  • Knowledge of financial crime and regulatory framework, inclusive of BSA Patriot ACT, OFAC, and EU AML.
  • Familiarity with financial crime technology (including watchlist management systems, case management tooling, transactions monitoring and screening).
  • Deep understanding of investigative process, suspicious activity.
  • Knowledge of bank compliance regulations, specifically BSA.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree - preferred.
  • CAMS-preferred.
  • 5 years BSA experience in a bank BSA department.
