GPI is currently looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated bridge design engineer to be a part of our expanding design team in our Pittsburgh, PA office. Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and 10+ years of experience. Candidates with experience and familiarity in with PennDOT is a plus. Individuals should have computer skills and be familiar with computer-aided design using MicroStation and Inroads/ORD.
The candidate should be experienced in all aspects of bridge design which include superstructure design, including structural steel and prestressed concrete girders or beams, substructure design including abutments and piers founded on spread footings, piles, or drilled shafts, and preparation of cost estimates and specifications for the purposes of project advertisement.
Candidates should have a strong technical background and demonstrated experience managing staff and coordinating with clients. Responsibilities:
- Project Management
- Performing bridge design with limited guidance
- Mentor staff
- Development of project deliverables including construction plans
- Creating schedules and budgets
- Creating written reports
- Working independently
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience
- B.S. in Civil Engineering is required
- PE licensure
- Experience with PennDOT
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Positive attitude and good work ethic with a desire to work in a collaborative environment
- NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (preferred)
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
- Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
- Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
