JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Bookkeeper role at FPG is the primary financial manager and works actively with both Inside Sales and Outside Sales teams to ensure the company’s smooth operation. Reporting directly to FPG’s President, the person executes all day-to-day financial tasks and helps guide the company through many of its strategic concerns.


This role requires wide-ranging collaboration with other internal resources and external partners – banking, lending parties, government/tax authorities, outside information systems support teams, suppliers and customers. The successful candidate must have strong financial acumen, accounting experience and a desire to be a part of a growing manufacturers’ representative management team.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages all aspects of the company’s ERP system (Odoo)
  • Validates all purchase orders placed with factories
  • Creates and manages all customer invoices, credits and payments
  • Makes collection calls upon delinquent parties
  • Handles banking relationships
  • Warehouse planning and management, including periodic inventory audits
  • Bank account, line of credit, credit card and PayPal reconciliations
  • Customer credit checks
  • Creates and manages all vendor invoices, credits and payments
  • Submits vendor payment disbursements to President after verifying documentation, entering payments for processing and submitting a reconciled report of cash position
  • Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, including preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
  • Reconciles company’s financial books on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Works with the company’s outside accounting firm, banks and facilitates the preparation of any state/federal request for information, including quarterly and annual tax filings
  • Partners with operations to improve operating practices to support better accounting data entry
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Final authority for all accounting procedure questions
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Available for infrequent (<5%) travel to visit customers and factories


SKILLS / ABILITIES / KNOWLEDGE

  • Motivated self-starter

  • Strong communicator
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized
  • Degree in business or accounting and 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience and knowledge of accounting
  • Use of a purchasing, product management and sales system
  • Reporting skills – e.g. Excel, Word, SQL
