Summary

Summary
W.B. Mason is looking to add a Senior Azure Data Engineer to support the Company’s digital transformation efforts. We are challenging ourselves to finish the migration of our ERP, eCommerce and Data Warehouse/BI/Analytics platforms to the Microsoft cloud in the coming year. While we have great support from Microsoft internal product teams as well as partners, we know that building our own capabilities is what works best for us in the long run and we intend to be here for a long time building on these great platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and development of Enterprise Data Platform providing central repository of operational and analytical data stores.
- Collaborate with various business teams including Senior Management and Analytics groups to understand business requirements and design scalable and efficient data architectures on the Azure cloud platform.
- Work with Solutions Architects on eCommerce, ERP, Mobile, B2B Integration and BI teams to determine data sourcing, integration needs and solution design including data flows in a hybrid on premise/cloud environment.
- Define and implement a data governance framework that includes data quality standards, data lineage, metadata management, and access controls.
- Integrate data from various sources, external as well as internal including both on-premises and cloud-based, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand business objectives and decision paths to produce required data models and analysis tools.
- Ability to identify proper data storage technologies and transformation tools based on the nature of the data, such as RDBMS, Azure CosmosDB, Text Files, Images, etc.
- Experience developing enterprise class mission critical ETL and integration jobs with requisite levels of resiliency and controls/monitoring
- Provide technical leadership within the Data Engineering team, guiding junior members and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Self-motivated, passionate and natural curiosity about the latest data technology and industry best practices especially within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and community
- Attention to detail and sense of responsibility for data availability, security and quality.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Very strong Background in MS SQL Server Stack - T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS
- Several years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing data lake and data warehouse solutions on Microsoft Azure.
- Fundamental understanding and appreciation of modern data architecture including Data Lakes, Delta Lakes and LakeHouse concepts
- Experience with Azure data services, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Event Hub, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, and others, to build end-to-end data solutions.
- Experience in developing Apache Spark notebooks using Python, R, Scala or similar data analytics languages
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and OneLake
- Experience in hybrid on premise/cloud environment and data sync methodologies desired.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git) and CI/CD tools.
- Experience with MS Dynamics 365 ERP or CRM a plus
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate are advantageous.
