Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Internal Audit
LOCATION OF WORK: City Hall 632 W. 6th Ave, Anchorage
HOURS OF WORK: Monday thorough Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Example of Duties
Perform preliminary surveys of organizations, to include review of contracts and Municipal Code, organization charts, board minutes, policies, procedures, mission statement, and goals. Observe operations and interviews management and staff personnel. Develop audit programs to include planning audit approach, evaluating internal systems and controls, designing audit tests, and writing audit program procedures. Perform an objective and systematic examination of evidence for the purpose of providing an independent assessment of performance, compliance of programs and for providing useful information to improve public accountability and decision making. Observe and test the accuracy of inventories. Identifies and/or assist in the audit of fraud or other noncompliance with laws and regulations. Prepare draft audit reports containing audit findings with workable recommendations for correcting the deficiencies. Perform special studies as required and assists external audit firm for annual financial audit and the Federal and State single audit. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Masters Degree in Accounting, Auditing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline and one (1) year of experience in auditing, financial auditing, compliance auditing, program evaluation, and/or policy analysis.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Auditing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline and three (3) years of experience in auditing, financial auditing, compliance auditing, program evaluation, and/or policy analysis.
OR
Associate's Degree in Accounting, Auditing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline and five (5) year of experience in auditing, financial auditing, compliance auditing, program evaluation, and/or policy analysis.
OR
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in auditing, financial auditing, compliance auditing, program evaluation, and/or policy analysis.
Must posses a valid State of Alaska Driver's License at the time of hire.
Preferences:
Preference will be given to applicants who posses a professional business certification such as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Information Systems Auditor
