Title: Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist, Flow Cytometry Core
Location: Seattle, WA
Position Summary
Cell Therapy Product and Analytical Development (P&AD) is seeking an enthusiastic, self-driven and collaborative Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist to join the Flow Cytometry Core team. The Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist will work in a collaborative environment to support various flow cytometers in GMP and non-GMP labs. The candidate will operate and manage various Flow Cytometry equipment, cell sorting, train users, consult on experimental design and perform instrument standardization.
Working Conditions (US Only)
The Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist will be exposed to general BSL-2 laboratory environments where proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be worn at all times. The temperature and noise levels will be ambient. The Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist will work directly with cytometry systems where lighting may be dimmed. Additionally, the Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist will interface with cell sorter systems as well as be involved with common wet bench reagents and supplies. The Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist will lift 50 pounds occasionally. The desk work will occur in an office setting where the Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist will be able to sit or stand as they choose at an ergonomic desk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and manage a variety of Flow Cytometry analyzers (especially cell sorters), including instrument QA/QC.
  • Oversee training for end users and provide subject matter expertise with instrumentation and analysis
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance, alignment, calibration and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of longitudinal analytical methods
  • Lead contact for various groups for Flow Cytometry platform related topics (GMP and non-GMP).
  • Designs and executes standardization procedures to ensure comparable data generated from multiple platforms.
  • Designs and executes experimental plans that solidifies standardized settings with routine assay panels.
  • Ability to conceptualize and design assay panels to relate to multiple scientists who are building Flow Cytometry panels for the first time.
  • Presents experiments and results at project team meetings, group meetings, and company meetings.
  • Advances group capabilities and know-how by identifying and implementing novel technologies.
  • Is able to effectively collaborate with colleagues across functional groups and has excellent communication skills.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's in a scientific discipline with 2-4+ years relevant industry experience (Master's 1-2+ years).
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-color Flow Cytometry panels (10+ color).
  • Cell Sorting experience is preferred.
  • Strong technical skills in intracellular and surface stain assay is preferred.
  • Previous experience in standardization efforts aligned with FDA/NIST is a plus.
  • Industry experience in a large flow core (10+ instruments) is a plus.
  • Experience in GMP environment is a plus, but not necessary.
  • Experience in bioinformatics or dataset mining is a plus (high dimension reduction flow analysis).
  • Experience with spectral cytometry and CytoFLEX (including any standardization efforts) is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic manner; expected interaction in both GMP and non-GMP environment.
  • Flexibility and interest in learning new techniques and skills (interface with multiple departments, especially research)
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational, and record-keeping skills
  • Proficiency in scientific computer programs including Microsoft Excel, FCS Express, JMP, FlowJo
  • Excellent problem solving skills

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $92,000 - $115,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
