Hampden-Sydney College has an immediate opening for a Senior Associate Dean of Admission. Reporting to the Dean of Admission, the Senior Associate Dean supports the mission of the College by assisting in the planning, execution, and management of the College’s territorial recruitment plan for all first-year and transfer students (domestic and foreign) while also independently managing major responsibilities of the Admission Office.
Job Duties:
Assist in the development and formulation of a yearly marketing plan for assigned recruitment territory including but not limited to visiting high schools, college fairs, and hosting college counselors throughout assigned territory.
Interview prospective students and meet with parents when they visit campus; maintain records for each visit or contact and the reaction of and to the candidates.
Serve as the college’s liaison to selected prospective students and their parents during the recruiting, application, and decision process; counsel candidates and their parents during this process.
Explain, assist, and advise prospective students and their families with the Financial Aid process, throughout the application and awarding process.
Manage a personalized follow-up program including but not limited to phone calls, text messages, emails, and handwritten notes aimed at developing a personal dialog with assigned prospects.
Plan, coordinate, and/or attend all prospective and accepted student receptions as assigned.
Maintain contacts with parents, friends of the College, school counselors, and alumni within needed areas, who can assist with candidate contacts.
Give personal, guided tours of the campus as assigned.
Read and evaluate all assigned admission files of first-year students.
Work on requested weekends during the academic year. This may include managing the office, giving campus tours, and engaging with prospective students and their families during special events.
Perform other duties as assigned.
*Assist in developing a comprehensive training program and manual for all admission staff in conjunction with the VP for Enrollment.
*Serve as the liaison for prospective students who are interested ROTC or who are Veterans of our Armed Forces.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university required 5+ years previous experience required Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must hold current valid driver’s license and be insurable by the College’s insurance carrier
