Senior Architectural Designer

Job Description
Michael Baker International is looking for a Senior Architectural Designer. As an integral part of our multi-disciplinary Architecture/Engineering Practice in the Northeast, this individual will execute design and documentation for a broad range of project types including Transportation, Rail Transit and Aviation, Infrastructure, Transit-Oriented Development Planning, Higher Education and Adaptive Re-Use. The Designer will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative design teams with architects, interior designers, site/civil engineers, and building systems engineers. The successful candidate will demonstrate design focused problem-solving, organizational skills, strong production management capabilities, and a good understanding of construction documents and constructability. This role will assist with design and development for a variety of projects which include:

• State and Federal transit including SEPTA, CTDOT, RIDOT, MBTA and AMTRAK facilities nationally.
• Transit and transportation facilities including stations, multimodal transit facilities, elevator, escalator, and moving walkways, material test laboratories, and maintenance facilities.
• Planning Studies, Conditions Assessments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Engages in activities associated with planning, design, and construction documents including code analysis documents, studies, reports, sketches, schematic drawings, renderings, specifications, final contract documents, and as-built drawings.
• Along with the Project Manager and other design professionals, communicates with clients to establish project scope of work, building program needs.
• Plans layout of project and integrates architectural elements into unified design for client review and approval.
• Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
• Maintains working knowledge of current industry software including Revit and BIM.
• Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• BS/BA in Architecture, or MS/MA in Architecture.
• 8 - 15+ years of experience in the design and documentation of architecture projects including well-developed skills in three-dimensional visualization.
• Demonstrated Building Information Modeling (BIM) [Autodesk Revit Architecture] AutoCAD proficiency, and and other relevant rendering and graphic communication tools.
• Strong graphic design, communication and presentation skills are essential.
• Proficient understanding of inter-relationships among design/engineering disciplines, clients and constructors.
• Pursuing or active LEED BD+C
• Microsoft 365

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $93,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
