  • Owner Track - We are seeking a full-time Architect III who is ready to play a significant role in our growing Architecture Team in Chico CA. NorthStar’s Architecture team is comprised of talented professionals working to better our communities through inspired design.

  • Hybrid Telework - Join us in Chico, CA and telework a couple of days a week.

The CSU Chico campus brings diversity and liveliness to our downtown with its farmer’s markets, restaurants, and live music. Within our 11- mile historic Bidwell Park and around Chico, there are abundant outdoor recreational opportunities including hiking, disc golf, mountain biking, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, star gazing, etc.

Your Job Responsibilities:

  • Fully responsible for design decisions on projects and collaborates with other Architects throughout the project lifecycle to achieve quality design solutions.
  • Develop solutions for complex design problems, including code compliance and agency interface.

Provide technical oversight and coordination of project activities with clients, consultants, contractors, and staff.

  • Quality review production drawings for a variety of projects to verify design compliance with project, client, and industry standards, including constructability.
  • Coordinate specifications and drawings, including consultant coordination of complex projects.
  • Stamp and sign prepared documents as the Architect of Record when acting as the Design Architect.
  • Work with clients to develop project scope, budgets, functional, aesthetic and spatial requirements of new structures or renovations, and create BIM drawings and renderings as appropriate for each phase of the project.
  • Direct the preparation of accurate and complete deliverables for each phase of the project (Feasibility, Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents and Specifications), which fulfill the client’s requirements, and provides high levels of constructability.
  • Perform marketing, prepare proposals, contracts and schedules. Develop Opinions of Construction Costs.
  • Manage construction administration and perform job-site visits.

What you must have to apply:

  • U.S. Licensed Architect, preferably in California, but must be able to obtain reciprocity
  • 12+ years of experience in an architectural firm required
  • 4+ years of experience managing design/production on multiple construction projects
  • 4+ years small team leadership experience
  • Experience in all phases of architecture and engineering, including substantial and varied experience in project planning.
  • Demonstrated record of successful project completion, including budget control and client satisfaction, is required, as is the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Experience in budget development, scheduling, and project management.
  • Advanced AutoCAD and Revit skills
  • Possession of a valid California Driver License and clean DMV report.

What we prefer you have:

  • 10+ years of experience in an architecture firm managing design and production of Multi-Family Housing, Commercial, K-12, or Hospital/Medical Office Building projects
  • 6+ years managing design and production on multiple $1M total construction budgets
  • 6+ years leadership experience in a production team environment

Compensation and Benefits:
NorthStar offers competitive pay and a full range of employee benefits:

  • Pay Rate – 87,711 to 112,000 based on relevant experience
