Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Senior Application Developer to support a USDA-Forest Service contract remotely!
Established in 1905, the Forest Service (FS) is a federal agency that manages public lands in national forests and grasslands under a founding principle, “To provide the greatest amount of good for the greatest amount of people in the long run”. The agency’s mission is to “sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the Nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations”. The right candidate will have experience providing Operations & Maintenance support on existing applications and managing enhancement releases. You will be part of a team that will support modernization initiatives.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS & TECHNOLOGIES

• Must have strong communications skills (verbal and written), strong teaming skills and tenacious in their ability to address a problem
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience with job related skills
• Minimum of 8 years of experience with Java based applications
• React, Angular, Javascript, Java, graphql, Postman, AWS services, Eclipse, Teamwork, Verbal Communication, Software Requirements, Software Development Process, Object-Oriented Design (OOD), Software Debugging.
• Able to work remotely 100% with high-speed internet and a dedicated office.
• Ability to provide after-hours On Call support
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant field or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
• Must be US Citizen

• Self-motivated and professional in demeanor with proven success as a development lead in an Agile environment delivering new applications, new releases and emergency code fixes, as required.
• Proven ability to interface successfully with the customer/client to drive high customer satisfaction and a positive team environment. This includes excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to navigate challenging situations with nuance and skill.
• Experience with defining site objectives by analyzing user requirements; envisioning system features and functionality.
• Experience with debugging and resolving issues in both the front end React code and the back-end Java code.
• Proficient at coding in React, Angular, Javascript, DOM, HTML, and related technologies.
• Experience working with graphql, Postman and implementing REST API calls.
• Proficient at coding in Java, Java Persistence Architecture (JPA), Springboot and related technologies.
• Ability to debug and resolve issues with SOAP based web service clients and augmenting and supporting of multiple database schema’s.
• Experience with completing applications development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities; contributing to team meetings; troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
• Confident knowledge of XML, JSON, SQL, CSS, Java 8 or above.
• Strong working knowledge of software architecture and design/re-design experience especially in the Java application space.
• Experience implementing code to build components and create UIs.
• Experience with 508 compliance coding concepts and methodologies
