The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for leading federal policy research and supporting and aligning AES business units approach to policy positions. In addition, the Analyst will be responsible for working on state policy issues in key CE markets to assure policy alignment and coverage on trade calls. This will include working with AESCE commercial, development, and finance teams and assuring processes for communication and collaboration. In addition, the Analyst will identify potential opportunities and risks to success, while collaborating with internal teams to develop and implement coordinated strategy. A key function will be maintaining relationships with internal team members, external customers and Trade Organizations. This role will have a strong understanding of AESCE’s assets and products and be a capable communicator and great teammate.
This position is 100% remote (US territory only), working from home, with occasional travelling for team meetings in our Salt Lake City, UT office.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Review, research, analyze, and communicate the potential impact of clean energy and related policy proposals and decisions that may impact development of clean energy.
- Work with internal teams (Development, Commercial, Finance, Operations) to identify the policy analysis needs and determine impacts of potential policy on business outcomes.
- Facilitate and support the incorporation of policy analysis into market strategy and outlook, ensuring a shared comprehension of the immediacy of the impact of state policy risks and opportunities on our short- and long-term portfolio goals.
- Specifically, enable incorporation of a thorough comprehension of legislation passed in 2023-2025 into the 2023-2028 AESCE portfolio outlook.
- Develop meaningful communication and notification tools best suited for various priorities and partners (both internal and external).
- Assure that the Senior Leadership Team is updated key issues and opportunities in a timely way.
- Assist with the development of State Policy Plans as needed.
- As appropriate and requested, foster and maintain relationships and project communications with key policymakers and decision makers
- Represent AESCE at various trade organization, business, government, and community meetings and events.
- Mobilize individuals and organizations to demonstrate support for renewable energy projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 2 to 5 years relevant experience in policy analysis and/or communication
- Experience in analyzing and communicating policy
- Background working and communicating complex concepts to teams who work in various fields.
- Microsoft Office skills; virtual meeting platform(s) such as Zoom or Teams; experience with a CRM tool such as Salesforce
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
