Job DescriptionGlobal Supply Chain & Indirect Sourcing at McDonald’s
This position will reside within the Global Supply Chain (GSC) business function specifically within McDonald’s Global Strategic Sourcing Services team. GSSS contributes directly to the bottom-line performance of the company through increasing value through advocating for increased offerings, and reducing the costs McDonald’s corporate entities or franchisees would otherwise absorb. This team collaborates with leaders throughout the company, supporting critical initiatives & needs that are driving McDonald’s into the future.
The role is part of the Business Services Sourcing team within GSSS. Category leads within Business Services are expected to advise stakeholders across multiple functions in the organization including, but not limited to, Finance, Marketing, Impact, People, Technology, Corporate Strategy, and even GSC.
The Global Strategic SourcingSenior Analyst, will support the Business Services Sourcing Managers with their respective projects and categories, manage their own categories, and support various team members across the Business Services, Marketing, and Technology Sourcing team. Actions include, but are not limited to, category strategy development, competitive supplier selection events, value opportunity identification, supplier performance management, contract negotiation and optimization, scoping analysis, external market insights, and industry landscape analysis.
The Global Strategic SourcingSenior Analyst will report to a Business Services Sourcing Manager.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
- Proactively establishing relationships with relevant functional partners and suppliers. Increase awareness of GSSS through building relationships, driving to increase stakeholder engagement.
- Understand stakeholder project pipeline to increase planned engagements and spend under management.
Category Strategy Development
- Developing a spend analysis for area of responsibility, finding opportunities to increase spend under management
- Staying on top of supplier information, industry news and critical developments within the category space – active involvement in local & national industry networks
- Working through risk identification and mitigation plans for responsible categories
- Highlighting innovation opportunities and competitor insights
- Building cases for “should-do” opportunities independently developed for consensus
Sourcing Capability Development
- Contributing to/participating in Supply Chain team meetings/events
- Developing or adapting templates & tools as needed for successful execution of the role
- Planning & implementing category specific or broader sourcing policies (such as required asks/ways of working or contract terms)
- Development of presentation materials for department and leadership updates
- Reporting savings and/or value achievements
Job Location & in-office Expectations
- Role is based in the West Loop, Chicago MHQ office
- Expectation is to be in the office 3 times a week per McDonald’s hybrid work policy. Days in office are up to the discretion of the individual.
- Excellent project management experience balancing multiple priorities effectively. Has the ability to pivot quickly and adapt to changing business priorities.
- Strong data analysis skills and experience developing data-based recommendations.
- Highly proficient in Excel
- Effective communication skills and the ability to tailor message to target audiences. Comfortable with presenting to all levels, including senior directors and VPs.
- Working knowledge of sourcing methodologies such as spend analysis, RFP processes including supplier negotiations & selection, supplier performance management, evaluation, category management, and basic understanding of contractual terms and conditions
- Ability to create clarity in moments of ambiguity to effectively navigate “grey space”
- Showcases behaviors of a strong individual contributor in accordance with McDonald’s BEST model – demonstrates curiosity, agile thinking, accountability, prioritization, strategic thinking, collaboration, resilience, and inclusion.
- Bachelors’ Degree required, preferred in Supply Chain, Business Management, or similar fields. MBA is a plus.
- 3+ years' experience in Strategic Sourcing.
