About the Role
Our mission at Rula is to make mental healthcare work for everyone: patients, therapists, and healthcare systems.
This role is an investment in researching the application of AI in our product ecosystem by building prototypes As proof of concept projects quantify value, this role will evolve into a more product development focus that builds and supports solutions that bring the value of AI into our core product.
Across our internal & customer-facing systems, there are a lot of opportunities where AI-based solutions could meaningfully improve patient outcomes and provider satisfaction. This role will involve working directly with a Product Manager to solve a new, complex problem approximately every few weeks. You’ll get to learn various parts of the business and test a variety of different ideas and approaches where AI and LLMs can make a difference, then productize the solutions that show promise.
As primarily a backend engineer you will bring AI-integrated solutions into our stack that enhance the experience and usability of our features by turning your prototypes into products with general expectations of quality, following engineering fundamentals in automation, security, and observability every day to build scalable and reliable systems in this space.
Required Qualifications
6+ years of Software Engineering experience, primarily backend.
Experience with prototyping, getting data using APIs from external systems
Experience driving all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, specing, execution, and measuring success
Experience working on cross-functional teams; specifically Product Managers and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
While having the preferred qualifications enhances your candidacy, having all of them is not mandatory. We encourage all interested applicants to apply, even those who may not meet every preferred requirement.
Experience training AI systems, evaluating and fine-tuning results for desired outcomes with LLMs, preferably with healthcare-focused LLMs
Previous experience in products with high reliability/accuracy requirements, mission critical systems, etc.
Experience ideating and building in complex engineering environments
