Job description

The Senior Actuarial Consultant (or Actuarial Consultant, depending on experience) requires the candidate to work as part of a team of professionals to independently analyze complex problems and develop workable solutions. The candidate will achieve significant interaction and visibility with captive insurance companies.

This is a unique opportunity to get a full breadth of actuarial experience across pricing and reserving within a supportive environment with a strong focus on work life balance. The team strives to produce automated repeatable processes that reduce the need for late nights manually working with data and frees up time to focus on the core actuarial analysis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, or business-related discipline. Three (5) or more years of actuarial experience in the property & casualty industry, with a preference for prior actuarial consulting experience.

Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) Required and Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) is preferred.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to develop client-oriented solutions.
  • Ability to undertake projects and produce quality and timely results.
  • Self-starter, strong initiative, confidence and ability to work with little guidance.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • An aptitude and drive to learn software packages, such as Alteryx is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with loss reserving, pricing for group captive insurance companies across a wide range of industry groups.
  • Organize and analyze large volumes of data, ensuring integrity and accuracy.
  • Setup and/or oversee analysis, templates, and exhibits in Excel, Alteryx and Arius.
  • Prepare and/or oversee production exhibits and written reports to present findings.
  • Research and develop actuarial studies to improve the standard studies performed by the team.
