We are seeking a Senior Manager of Product Acquisition and Development to join our Publishing department. We offer both a hybrid and/or 9/80 work schedules.
Position Objective
Manage the acquisition and development of print and electronic products, print associated with the Publications Department’s portfolio of books. Develop and manage product timelines and deliverables. Ensure that all books and handbooks publish on time as indicated by production schedules. Communicate status throughout development cycle to stakeholders in the organization. Manage the product life cycle and ensure feedback from customers and stakeholders is captured and incorporated into future development. Responsible for revenue goal. Manage direct reports.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Acquire 12 – 15 new and revised titles annually.
Negotiate contractual terms and draft contracts for all new and revised titles.
Develop a P&L statement for each prospective revision and new title to determine profitability.
Conduct regular sales and revenue analysis to identify revision targets and monitor performance of existing titles.
Schedule and chair kick-off meetings for all new and revised titles to communicate the production schedule, print and digital sales projections, product features and benefits, digital functionality requirements. Work with Distribution Manager and Marketing Dept. to create a marketing and distribution plan.
Supervisory Duties
Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports.
Demonstrate and model AWWA core competencies in communication, productivity, quality, responsiveness, and leadership.
Manage and fulfill supervisory responsibilities for recruitment, hiring, retention, performance and professional development, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and termination of direct reports.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area required; Master's degree in related area preferred
Work Experience :
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading content acquisitions and product development in a book or journal publishing environment required.
  • Demonstrated experience generating detailed project and production schedules, estimating project scope, resource requirements, and cost required.
  • Demonstrated system design and management skills required.
  • Minimum 3 years staff supervisory experience required.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required; intermediate proficiency with database applications preferred.

Physical Demands
Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following physical activities:
Ability to lift minimum of 2 pounds to a maximum of 15 pounds; able to sit for extended periods of time with some standing, stooping, lifting, walking, stretching, reaching; moderate range of body motions.
Ability to hear and interact by phone and in person clearly and efficiently.
Ability to use computer and all peripherals for extended periods of time.
Standard Work Environment
Level III - Moderate noise (example: business office with computers and printers, light traffic) No required essential duties or tasks involve lifting more than 15 pounds or any exposure to hazardous conditions than would be encountered by a visitor. Normal hazards associated with business travel if travel is required.
