Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accounting Consultant, responsibilities include:
Perform various lease accounting functions within prescribed time schedules and guidelines
Review lease agreements, assess appropriate accounting classification (capital vs. operating), and prepare appropriate supporting documentation
Review work product of lease accounting staff, including FAS analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and month-end close journal entries, and provide feedback as appropriate
Understand and apply relevant lease accounting guidance to agreements and transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy of center financial statements; research guidance when necessary
Analyze lease accounting transactions on both the P&L and balance sheet for accuracy, and perform adjusting journal entries as necessary
Maintain the lease accounting subledger within accounting software
Work closely with the Real Estate team and third-party lease administration providers to ensure the subledger is appropriately maintained and updated as leases are amended, renewed and terminated
Perform month end close procedures, including preparing and recording multiple adjusting journal entries
Point of contact for lease accounting due diligence for prospective acquisitions, including aggregating and reviewing work of lease accounting team throughout the process
Preparation of opening balance sheet calculations of leases for new acquisitions and closing balance sheet for divestitures
Key participant in leading integration activities following acquisition transactions
Prepare and analyze various monthly/quarterly financial reports, including requirements for ASC842 footnote disclosures
Develop and maintain working relationships with fellow teammates and various stakeholders
Prepare timely and accurate work product, including insightful financial statement analysis
Prepare ad hoc reporting requests from management and other stakeholders
Promptly respond to internal and external lease accounting needs with service excellence, with ability to explain complex lease accounting guidance
Train and mentor lease accounting teammates
Qualifications:
Total education, vocational training and experience:
BS in Accounting or Finance required
4 + year experience in corporate or public accounting
Experience in lease accounting preferred
Strong quantitative, analytical, and statistical skills
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to interact with all levels of management
Proficiency in Microsoft: Excel, Outlook, Word
Additionally, candidate should possess the ability to work in a changing, fast paced environment while displaying SCA's values. Candidate must be able to work independently and efficiently, with acute attention to details and deadlines. Candidate should have a can-do, will-do attitude, with the ability to influence others towards positive results and actions. Candidate must demonstrate teamwork and partnership across multiple different lanes and have the ability to interact professionally with Company teammates.
