Senior Accountant - Oil And Gas

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements. Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and COPAS guidelines.
• Joint Interest Billing (JIB): Oversee Joint Interest Billing processes, ensuring proper allocation of costs and revenues among working interest partners. Analyze JIB statements and resolve discrepancies as needed.
• Operator Interaction: Collaborate with operators to obtain necessary financial data, resolve queries, and maintain strong working relationships. Serve as the key point of contact for financial matters between the organization and operators.
• General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial transactions. Perform month-end and year-end closings.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and provide analysis for variances.
• Auditing and Compliance: Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as required. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Present findings to management to support strategic decision-making.
• Taxation: Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns, including income tax, property tax, and other relevant taxes.
• Process Improvement: Continuously assess and enhance accounting processes to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and maintain high levels of accuracy.
• Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the accounting department.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is a plus.
• COPAS Compliance: Proven experience in working with Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies (COPAS) guidelines and principles.
• JIB Experience: Previous hands-on experience with Joint Interest Billing (JIB) processes, including cost allocations and revenue distributions.
• Operator Experience: Strong familiarity with working closely with operators in the Oil and Gas industry, understanding their reporting requirements and building productive relationships.
• Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of the Oil and Gas industry, including its financial practices, revenue recognition, and regulatory landscape.
• Financial Software: Proficiency in utilizing accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with industry-specific software (e.g., WolfePak and Open Invoice) is advantageous.
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
• Adaptability: Proven track record of adapting to changing priorities, meeting tight deadlines, and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
