What's this role about?

As a member of the finance team at Auvik you will actively support and participate in the full cycle accounting process including the production of financial statements, account analysis and reconciliations, audit preparation and support for both Canadian and Global audits, internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. 

You will play a key part in helping scale the financial operations of a high-growth tech company, increasing automation and implementing best practices as we continue to grow. We are looking for candidates who are passionate, agile, energetic and always looking to challenge the status quo. 

This role reports to the Assistant Controller, and will work closely with the FP&A Manager and the Tax Team. Join our dynamic team, who are on a mission to help the company reach its north star!

What will I be doing?

• Function as the lead staff accountant for Auvik's Corporate Accounting department, working closely with other members of the team, as well as cross-functionally
• Prepare ad hoc external reporting packages and analysis for review by the Controller, FP&A, and leadership teams
• Perform a variety of advanced financial analyses to determine current and forecasted financial health of the organization
• Post entries to the general ledger based on IFRS
• Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations for monthly financial statements
• Prepare and monitor daily cash management (FX trades, intercompany payments, loan payments, funding accounts)
• Prepare working papers for annual audits of our global entities
• Prepare extracts and summaries as required to support the tax compliance function
• Document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen and maintain internal controls
• Assist with accounting research and analysis of complex accounting transactions and the impact of new accounting and reporting standards
• Roll up your sleeves to help with new projects and initiatives in the Finance department such as systems migrations and automations
• Guide and partner with cross-functional teams to develop and implement approved changes
• Work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure accuracy of the accounts receivable and accounts payable postings
• Support AR and AP functions with technical guidance on processes, systems and accounting treatments, with support from the Assistant Controller

What are we looking for?

• 3-5 years post-university accounting experience, preferably working with an international organization operating in multiple jurisdictions
• CPA designation with solid technical accounting background
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills including the capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding broader context and implications
• Ability and interest in working with technical aspects of financial systems; ERP or accounting system implementation experience a plus
• Effective communication skills, verbally and in writing, at all organizational levels 
• Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects to completion
