Description: The Accountant provides full lifecycle accounting support in the areas including organization’s daily accounting operations including accounting, AP/AR, bank reconciliation, payroll, and other related financial duties, such as monthly closing, variance analysis and other projects as assigned in the GovCon space. Must be exceptionally detail oriented and have a thorough knowledge of GAAP while enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and ensuring accuracy. Also tracks, creates and maintains contract data requirements and deliverables. The candidate will have business skills/expertise in administration and supervision of federal government contracts of varying size and complexity, analysis of complex bids, and thorough working knowledge of the FAR/DFARS.
Accountant and Contracts Specialist Job Duties:
- Perform AP functions - processing vendor invoice and payments.
- Perform AR function - preparing and submitting monthly customer invoices and
- analyzing monthly unbilled billing and reconciliations.
- Process monthly expense report.
- Perform bank reconciliation.
- Perform semi-monthly payroll.
- Support month-end close including; gather information and record month-end accruals.
- Research and review G/L detail account variances.
- Assist in gathering and analyzing information for tax planning and preparation.
- Help maintain and update records and files in order to maintain compliance with GAAP and DCAA requirements.
- Assist in external and internal financial statement reviews and audits.
- Identify areas of cost savings in financials to be presented to the executive team
- Support Project Managers, Division and Department leads in providing informative financial data in an effective format as well as in the use of QuickbooksUnanet.
- Assist in creating and updating projects, tasks, employees, and other accounts in Unanet or other accounting systems.
- Assistant in HR functions such as sending and processing on boarding paperwork.
- Perform ad hoc project analysis and reconciliations as needed.
- Familiarity with GSA MAS schedules.
- Maintain and track internal contractual deadlines, redistribute incoming and outgoing tasks to respective Contracts Department team members.
- Supports the Bids and Proposals team in providing contract analysis and review of RFPs and other competitive US Government contract proposals. Activities include analysis of solicitation requirements, terms and conditions, payment terms, identification and mitigation of risks and contract negotiation
- Work with business stakeholders, functional counterparts, and customers to resolve contractual issues.
- Daily administration of Government contracts and prime contractor issued subcontracts of various types, to include FFP, T&M, all Cost-type contracts, IDIQs and OTAs
- Review of contractual documents and negotiation of terms and conditions.
- Maintain and track internal contractual deadlines, redistribute incoming and outgoing tasks to respective Contracts Department team members.

Security Clearance Requirements: None required. MUST be a U.S. Citizen.
Experience Requirements: Minimum 2 years of experience in using ADP payroll and timekeeping systems (as a user and an admin) is required. Minimum 2 years of experience in reviewing and managing contracts Strong knowledge of DCAA compliance for government acquisition guidance and regulations is required. Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business related field with minimum 10 years Accounting experience of which minimum 4 years with Government Contracts accounting; OR, Masters degree in Accounting preferred with minimum 8 years Accounting experience
Preferred Experience: 4 years with Government Contracts accounting
Desired Skills / Qualifications: Experience on processing payroll for small and medium sized businesses.
Software skills: ADP, Excel spreadsheet, Payroll system (ADP), Microsoft Word, Quickbooks. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Location: Remote work permitted but must be able to meet in the corporate office once a week (Fairmont, WV)
Status/Classification: Full time, W-2 position. No contract to hire.
Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday
Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long durations of time. Also, must be able to continuously operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
